RE7 if you play on proper difficulty where 2 hits kills you and there's not much healing items.

I loved Fear but it's a shooter and you play a super soldier, outside of turning around and running away from the ghost there's nothing scary in it.

Also any team games like Call Of Duty or Animal Party when you're the last person left. So much pressure.

I think people are saying FEAR because they were a teenager when they first played it. If you played it now it wouldn't hit the same. SOM@ (why is this filtered?) is an OK shout as well, had some eerie moments. RE2 when you first meet that dude in the hat is a bit creepy.
When I was younger I fkin hated that monster in Dead Space which is unkillable (forgot the name of it), there's an area where you have to get yourself through this maze of boxes and the thing is following you all the time. Tempted to pick up the remake tbh

The atmosphere was so good, oppressive, and it made the town itself feel like the enemy more than the monsters, the constant feeling of dread was great. Such a masterpiece of a story too.

I'd say Alien Isolation probably nails the atmosphere of a horror movie the best.

The Resident Evil franchise and Silent Hill franchise are both up there.
Evil Within and Outlast as well.

Resident Evil 1-Code Veronica are all scary games. Especially on the remasters. Yes i have played games like Fatal Frame, Condemned, Silent Hill but they weren't as scary as the GOATs.
