I think you're underestimating Lamar Jackson for this recognition
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Horrible take.
First off, he was only 30. They had just gone 5-11 and he still got 1400 yards with defenses targeting him every snap because they didn't need to worry about a passing game. Their QB was Charlie Batch for Christ sake. He barely got over 2k yards for the season. Even herman moore, who was a beast in the 90s, didn't get 1k that year. And even a few more mediocre years would have easily given him the all time record. He quit on his terms before his body was broken
You tell me what was worse. Barry leaving at 30 and us never witnessing him have even a mediocre season, or Emmett Smiths 2 years with the Cardinals?

Barry was great, incredibly fun to watch, and you have to admire the self-awareness and conviction it took for him to realize he was completely happy with what he had done as a player, make that decision to walk away, and never have any second thoughts that he made the right decision.
I do have a personal bias toward Emmitt, so I gotta stick up for my boy and point out while that is a whole lotta yards per season, he is looking quite a bit light on the TDs. The biggest thing stopping Emmitt from racking up more yards was the end zone.
That's a flag for Unsportsmanlike Conduct! That is one of those things like MJs games with Washington that you just don't talk about, even though Emmitt's numbers in his last year were certainly nothing to be embarrassed about. He was also already the all time leading rusher without those seasons which considering how the game has changed will be a title he holds for a very long time.

He is certainly in the conversation at the very least. I do not see how anyone could argue for any other running back being more entertaining though. He could have 4 guys coming at him from different directions in the backfield and you still werenβt convinced it wasnβt going to be an 80 yard TD run

Either seeing him play live during the 90's or just watching one of his highlight reel videos on Youtube would be enough to show that he's the best ever. His number stats over that 10 year period just help the case further.
