When I was hiring manager for my dad's company it was required to advertise job openings even if we had already decided on an internal candidate
So we'd invite outside candidates to interview and basically pretended they were actually being considered so that on paper we filled the quota of interviewing outside applicants
Then we'd ghost them and hire the internal candidate we had already decided on
This was before remote interviews on zoom etc so they had to actually come in to interview
Driving hours to get there and using PTO or vacation time from their current job to have a day to interview
This is why sometimes you never hear from a job you interviewed at ever again even if you send follow up emails and calls
We called them interview fodder

Pretty much everything on your corporate machine is at least logged, if not even worse (possibly screen/audio recording as example, keylogging, etc). Everything from putting in a USB (and the file contents of the USB), to the bluetooth devices connected to it, to your web browsing (including outside of corporate network / VPN), and more. And depending on the security at the company, it'll cause alerts.
I know the thread title says "who wouldn't worked it wouldn't know..." but the amount of idiots looking at porn, watching pirated media, playing video games, putting some files onto a personal machine or email, watching TV/sports/movies/YouTube/Twitch for their entire shift, is astounding.i7-14700k

Probably that while I was assisting them, i was drunk.

So a good amount of people sometimes ask me how stamped concrete works. When the concrete gets hard enough to walk on but just soft enough on top to still be able to make an impression into it, we throw on what is called release powder and it is coloured powder, there are different colours to choose from. Ok then you put rubber mats down with with the pattern on the bottom side, there are different patterns to choose from also that you decide on before hand. Then you stamp it into the concrete with a hand tamper. That’s the basics, when it’s cured enough then you power wash the powder off and make your relief cuts (usually the next day).

What going offshore to a rig actually entails. Actual conversation between me and a new hire:
New: So when you go offshore, do you just fly out every morning?
Me: No, you stay on the rig
New: Oh, so you live on the rig. How often do you leave? Weekends and stuff?
Me: Ain't no weekends on a rig. You stay until you're done.
New: Oh, so if you go out for 2 weeks, you stay for 2 weeks?
Me: Yep, and if you go out for 2 weeks and it takes you 6 weeks to finish, you stay out for 6 weeks."Bones heal, pain is temporary, and chicks dig scars" - Evel Knievel
