The whole concept of the modern *** is flawed. I made this point sometime ago when people were laughing at older tanks bring fielded by Russia.

Given the vulnerability of tanks to atgm, tow, drones; and the unlikelyness that they will be involved in a tank duel.

It makes more sense to build cheaper more replaceable tanks.

A Leapord 2 may be a better tank than T-72, but an ATGM will destroy both.

US body armor is designed to stop higher caliber threats and be replaced after it does so a few times. Level IV Ceramic body armor will stop a 7.62x54R round (Standard machine gun ammo for them), or a 5.45 7N6 round (AK 74 Ammo). Level III Steel plates will not, although they will stop 7.62x39 Russian. (Standard AKM ammo)

Ukraine isn't experiencing an armor quality issue, they're experiencing a logistical one, because again, Ukraine being supplied by the United States is not the United States.
