Seems like a media based opinion/popularity contest...
The dude has five games played and two tackles this season
Give me one of the backup QBs instead, Browning, Flacco or Minshew all deserve it more

Bills fan here. He definitely shouldn't win it, and if he does it will further expose NFL awards as highly narrative based. I realize the definition of the award leaves some leeway for interpretation of what qualifies a player to win the award.
The NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award is presented by the Professional Football Writers of America to the player in the National Football League (NFL) who shows perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, overcoming a severe injury, or simply a poor performance. Prior to 1992, the winner was selected by writers at Pro Football Weekly and since then it is done by polling all active sportswriters in the Professional Football Writers of America.
While Hamlin would qualify under overcoming severe injury, Flacco and Baker qualify under recovering from poor performance. Flacco barely played for the Jets and Baker got 2 wins between 2 different teams. While all qualify as coming back from adversity, the heights that they ascend to in their comeback year MUST be considered as well.
As OP stated, Hamlin has 2 tackles on the year. Flacco has only played in 4 games so far but has played at a high level and been a reason for the Browns winning games, despite throwing a lot of INTs. Would the Browns have clinched a playoff berth tonight with PJ Walker at QB?
The actual winner should be Baker Mayfield. He has started every game, posted the highest passer rating of his career at just over 96, and has his team in position to make the playoffs. All these players overcame the requisite down year/adversity but Baker has played the best in his comeback.See Krackerjacked's sig

Demar is a pro athlete. You really think he wants some BS participation trophy handed to him? His best contribution this year was missing a key block on a punt, which resulted in a roughing the kicker.
He’s done literally nothing good on the field. He’d probably even vote for baker or Flacco.#BillsMafia

You guys are clowns for saying Baker. Hamlin was literally laying dead on the field and you guys want to give it to a player who wasn't even injured.
That linemen from the Giants who missed two years and had like 9 surgeries should have won it last year but they gave it to Geno Smith, who wasn't even injured.
Stop trying to give every award to a mid QB. Hamlin is Comeback Player and Trent Williams is MVP
