I have been around ATV's since the big red days, have always owned a couple. I live in ATV country.
Smashing the rear windows out of trucks is something I have seen many times over the years and it always makes me laugh...
At least that guy has a Honda, that's a quality machine right there and the only ATV I will ever own. A shaft driven machine is the only way to go, those that run on rubber bands are nothing but trouble.
That looks like a few year old 420 Rancher, )I could be wrong) hard to see from the pic, if so those are fukking bullet proof especially if it's just the plain Jane bare bones machine. Foot shift and solid rear axle. You can't kill em.
I will be buying 2 new 2024 Ranchers this fall when the 2025's come out. Mine are 8 years old, I drove the **** out of them. Zero Problems and they run great, It's just time for an upgrade, it's how I roll!.Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

There is a thing called a gassifier at the refinery. There are 2. The main and the backup. It's a high temperature vessel used to make nitrogen fertilizer. These guys are bricklayers and they reline the inside of one of the gassifiers when it breaks down. The bricks are made of chrome. They are $600 a piece. The gassifiers are about the size of 12 school busses stacked side by side and on top of each other.
The guy that drove the ATV into the window offered me a 1 week job at the refinery just for S&G's.Current rankings

Great links, MT.
I was on my front porch and two Wood Ducks flew in and splashed in the creek by my place.

Wood Ducks walk a lot on land and one of the only species besides Black-Bellied Whistling Ducks that light in trees. I knew these Wood Ducks got on land, so I went in the back and spooked them up.

Too Cool Mark!
You got a nice creek there... So much greenery for this time of year, I am jealous LOL
We have lots of woodies here, we put nesting boxes on trees in the ponds when they are frozen to give them a hand lol..
Never heard of a Black-Bellied Whistling Duck...
Googled them, pretty cool.Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

If they were hunting, why didn't they just shoot that critter?
I saw a story that said that they hunted together practically every day. The cat was 90lbs. They tried to scare it off by throwing a backpack in its direction. It bit the first brother in the face and neck until the other brother jumped in. It then, turned on that brother and bit his neck while the first brother ran to get help/cell service.
Why go into the woods without a gun or knife or bear spray?[]---[] Equipment crew member #51 []---[]

We need more ducks in the military. Special Ops.
Black-Bellied Whistling Ducks are pretty big birds, too. Bigger than say Mallards. Not nearly as big as a Goose, though.
Agreed, Greggo. I would have had a knife and spray at the ready. Especially in California. Too many reports of big cats attacking people not to have those essentials.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Happy Easter Fukkers...
Last year just before winter I saw a good size black bear cross the beaver Dam behind my place and hold up in an area for a day or so. They were starting to hibernate so I thought it may have went to ground but after a day or so it moved on. This morning I was coming back from a hike and close to my place I ran into a big bear, less than 10 yards.
A little ways away I saw this.
Fukker was denned up in there, looks like a great spot to spend the winter. I was hesitant to look inside the den because I didn't know the sex of the bear and if she had cubs in there, I wouldn't want to get between them and her.
I can almost throw a rock to the den from my back door so I had a neighbor all winter and didn't know it lol.
We are overrun with black bears and the last thing we need is any more, but it would be cool if it's a sow with cubs and I got a looksee at them. I saw 100's of cubs over the years but it never gets old.
Have a great weekend peeps.Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

MT, that is a great bear story and that den near your home, OMG. I have read that Black Bear can be very aggressive, but I guess most any bear can be in the right circumstances. Seeing that den in person would give me chills.
Awesome pic.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Wondering the same at times having watched american shows. Our predators are probably more scarce and possibly more concentrated up north a bit, but your american and canadian parks seem risky, lol.
Just got back from a few hours out today - hoping some shots turned out ok. Was a bit rainy at times.
Be careful, pockets. Jesus Christ - these things will eat you alive. Or just be a daredevil and bring your sleeping bag and camera and go to bed in that den, lol. LWW might like that one.Last edited by steffo99; 03-29-2024 at 10:41 AM.

I ran and jumped over this rocky ditch holding the 3 gallon sprayer in my hand. The weight of the sprayer made me go cattywompas in mid air and I landed on my side and skinned up a knee. Had to get a tetanus shot. I ate some of the fully grown chicks from the turkey the following year.

Good to see forum alive and kicking again. Hope you all are well. Sharing some photo stuff even though it was indoors.
Röhsska Museum, Gothenburg
Was surprised at all the historical items they had in the Asian section. Not well advertised at all. Oldest items were from 2500 BC – and worked a few days on what I got. Put together a slideshow thing of 64 pictures in the link below. Might have to ”click” through it – not sure if I got the auto-timer to work.

Hey everybody. Glad most of you survived the apocalypse.
Steffonolopolis, those shots are outstanding. I love photos of history and especially of history that is hundreds and thousands of years old. The artistry of those figures and mosaics is amazing.
