If all regular front wheel drive cars had limited slip differentials and came stock with either all weather tires like the Michelin Cross Climate 2 or dedicated winter tries, then 99.999% of people would never ever need an All Wheel Drive or 4 Wheel Drive vehicle. The Mass Adaptation of All Wheel Drive and and 4 wheel drive Cars, SUVs, and Trucks by the public through brainwashing and Propaganda especially in northern climates is ONLY to massively increase corporate profits of vehicle manufacturers.

You only need 4wd for going up a mountain in a record setting blizzard in Fairbanks Alaska, towing a heavy load in a blizzard or offroading. 99.999% of people will never need anything more than a fwd car with a limited slip differential and Michelin cross climate 2 tires.
A Civic Type R or Acura Integra Type S with with dedicated winter tires can drive perfectly fine in more than 99.999% of winter driving situations where your typical Soccer Mom Driving a Toyota RAV4 AWD or your Typical Manlet Driving a 4Wd Ford F-150 can drive.White 18-24 year old fit virgins with no tattoos and no debt=GOAT Women.

AWD is useless until it's below freezing with black ice and snow. When I still lived in NY, having AWD was a game changer. I would see cars struggling in the snow to blow right past them. Winter tires can only do so much. However if you're not in a climate that has a lot of cold weather and snow it's mostly a waste of money. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

Ok, I live in northern Ontario where our plows take up to two days to come around after snow storms. FWD cars get stuck due to the amount of snow on the road. That's what I use to drive. I now have a ram 4 x 4 which is 10 x more spacious and way more comfy, wife has AWD suv and now we never get stuck, or need to worry about the snowbank when leaving for work at 7 am at the end of our drive way so will stick to that as it is worth the extra money for us here.

I don't know many people who buy SUVs cause of the 4 wheel or all wheel drive - they buy SUVs cause they prefer them over cars - sitting higher, usually has more power for aggressive driving, the storage capacity - actually that is one to look at, that people think they need the space of an SUV over a sedan

I suppose op wants me to park at the bottom of the giant hill and walk up when it's got a foot of snow on it?
Studded snows and awd turn a long walk into actually getting to my house all winter.
I go further north for winter vacation most years. Doing something different this year and heading to revelstoke bc to ski for a week. 20 feet of snow base. Should be a good time. It's warm all summer here. Have to put up with that chit for long enoughSee BrianDaMans sig.

Floridacel here. 4wd comes in handy here for traversing flooded roads (happens any time theres heavy rain), driving in sand (the best surfing and fishing spots in my county are best accessed by driving on the beach), and not having your suspension destroyed driving through our potholed roads (thats more ground clearance but anyways).
99.999% of people may not need it but its nice to have.

If you live in a area where they plow and salt the streets then you can get by fine with all seasons.
And along the coast it barely snows but a few times a year.
Then for more heavier areas, snow tires make a bigger difference but a lot of people are too lazy to put on snow tires and they think their SUV with all seasons and AWD is enough but you would be better off with FWD and winter tires.🌺 Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 – Jan 29, 2022
