Working A Yard as an SPO on 2/w, we get a call from Education that one of the teachers that they are having a problem with an inmate. One of my partners and I walk back there to see what's going on; normally when a teacher has a problem it's a drunk or high inmate causing a disturbance. We get to the back and there is a teacher screaming at an inmate, inmate is chill and just sitting there so now we're confused.

We ask what's up, turns out the inmate didn't do his homework and the teacher lost it, luckily the inmate just sat there. So we just say fck, we'll escort the inmate out to avoid issues. As we are leaving the teacher tells us to write the inmate up for not doing the homework, I tell her fck no she can write him up, not like it's my homework he didn't do. Inmate asks us what the fck he problem was, all we can say is dunno guy, bitch was crazy.

I was working D Building 2 on 3/w, walk in one day and the women I normally relieve isn't there, whatever maybe she was sick. My phone starts blowing up at 1400 with people wanting to know what happened. Fck I don't know, nobody told me sht.

Turns out the women I normally relieve had snuck a phone in to an inmate and was banging him in the supply closet; they go to 'get supplies' and do the inventories. Well the guys cellie got jealous and wanted in, female said no so the inmate told on her. They managed to get the phone even, full of pictures.

I was trained for a lot of things in the CDCR Academy, riots, fights, ODs, ect... what they did not prepare me for is the plain old WTF moments that I get pretty much daily.

I'm working as D Yard Officer #2, my whole job is pretty much be on the yard all day and monitor it, make sure no one fights, yard crew workers do their job, rules on the yard are followed, sht like that. Yard #1 and I are sitting on the bench in front of D Building 5, just watching the yard and kicking back. We notice 2 guys one sitting on a bench and another in front of him on his knees.... no way, is he.... is he sucking that guys dick right on the yard. We play rock, paper, seniority. Haha got him beat in seniority so he has to go see what's up; turns out a guy was selling BJs on the yard ($5 of canteen each, for those curious).

Now we should put the yard down, do Prison R*pe Elimination Act (PREA).... but that's a lot of work we ain't looking for, we just sent both back to their cells and told them not to come out for the rest of the day. Problem solved, fck it.

I forget why, but on D Yard and most of us are in Medical, it was a fight or OD or something, but most staff are there. Our Sergeant goes to use the bathroom (had to sht) and he is not a small guy. He is pushing 400+ pounds easily, this comes into play later.... he comes out, doesn't say anything just goes back to being the supervisor. A few minutes later a nurse goes in to the bathroom and we hear a loud *clang* and she runs out yelling "You broke the toilet!" Our Sgt. tries to play it off, saying she must have broken it, like the 100 pound if that nurse could...

She yells at him "No, you very big boy, you break it!"

We're dying at this point, like that's fcking dirty trying to blame her for it, cold blooded!

Loved that guy, too bad he promoted to Lieutenant at another prison.

Working C yard just on 2/w overtime, I took SPO #3, and since I'm the non-regular I get the bitch work, fine with me, usually not hard work. I have to take a few guys to our on site hospital for routine appointments, whatever, I'll kick it in the A/C with the guys back there!

As I am walking back a riot kicks off, fck, the inmates can hear over my radio who is involved; I am in no mans land by myself with 5 guys. I just ask if anyone plans to do anything, or we can just hang out for a bit until sht is done; luckily they all agree no one feels like fighting today so I just chill in fck nowhere with these 5 guys, we BS about the riot and politics, easy day for me. I just take them back when the riot is done. Sometimes bitch work is best work.

Inmates were cheering for him when they took him and his celly out of the building, no one cared much he snitched in this case. Mostly since no one likes a dirty cop, also it was a 'good for you' thing, he got laid so fck it.

Working on D yard and it's recall for the night, a little past even at 2105. I'm just working as an SPO and we're all out there in front of program, all the yard staff, watching an inmate try and chase down a dog (dog training program), the dog had gotten away from him and for about 15 minutes now the dog is hauling ass and the inmate is chasing him. This is fcking funny, it's a Shepard mix, no way this guy is catching this dog but he is definitely getting his cardio in trying.

As the dog runs by us our Sgt, the 400+ pound guy from the earlier story moves faster than someone like him should be able, he runs up and steps on the leash. Poor dog, he goin' nowhere now. The inmate comes up looking like he's about to pass out and says thanks, then takes the dog with him back to the building.

Initially I thought the dog program was dumb, but it is nice to just pet a dog when you're having a shtty day, lowered violence too by a lot, no one wants to fight when there are dogs on the yard.

Over the radio we hear escape procedures training... so the Floor Officer #1 in the building needs to go on the roof with a rifle and watch no mans land, it's fcking August or something, 110+ already at 0900....

Now here I get okey-doked, I don't know better, but the floor cop says "Hey, want to go on the roof? You get a gun and everything!" Well fck that sounds cool, sure. I stood on that roof like a jackass until at about 1330, 30 minutes until the end of the shift, been up there for hours.... then I hear on the radio "Uh, Central Control, can we pull our officers off the roofs?"

I just hear Central say "Oh, uh, yeah, this concludes escape training." They fcking forgot we were up there, dickheads, think I sweat out a few pounds that day, luckily the Control Booth cop kept tossing me water bottles. Neat pissing off a prison roof top too I guess.
