Rosalynn Carter, wife of Jimmy Carter and former first lady, dies aged 96



She had a good run and was a great humanitarian.


Jimmy is 99 and in hospice care, I expect he will join Rosalynn soon. That's how it goes with close couples a lot of the time.

Inviting yourself to someone's place may be common in your neck of the woods, but it’s something new for us.

Perhaps I am blind but, I have never even seen anyone do it on this forum before.

I am glad that you had a great time at Flex's and many beers were had and 99 pictures taken.

Even my family and friends will tell you that such a request is not something I would ever entertain, we enjoy our privacy and as much as we enjoy seeing family and friends when they visit, it's always nice to return to the freedom of our non commitment and solitary lifestyle which is the reason we retired early.

Okay...back, at least tangentially, to Rosalynn Carter.

It's sad that she died, but she did survive not only the succeeding President and First Lady (Ronald and Nancy Reagan), she also survived their successors as well (George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush). She had a good innings and I have no doubt that she was a woman of numerous valuable qualities.

When I think of the Carters, I see them as great Humanitarians, One who swung a hammer into his nineties for Habitat for Humanity and a Lady that was an advocate for Mental Health and women's rights...
