Once I was 18 mine left me alone, I paid rent and took care of my own affairs and I just lived there. My GF at the time, that was different. Didn't matter, her mom tried to micromanage her life and go through her stuff like she was a little kid so she was out as soon as she hit 18.

I never went crazy living with my parents but it was good to have my own place at 20, I think it was.

Due to hurricane damage to the area last year, I needed someplace to live for a few months. I moved back home with the folks during that time. As usual most of the time we got along great.

would get mad when i was out until 5-6am
complained how i would invite girls over for ONS (sometimes they loud LOL)
whine about my drinking with friends in my room or in the backyard around the fire listening to music

pretty much expected me to be the same teenage high school guy that would stay in eating doritos and playing counter strike

i was even paying them rent too (500/mth = to help with the bills/groceries). once i got my apartment it was the best tho. still cant blast music and be too crazy but its still way better then living with parents

I was done with living with parents by about 12 as my father was a dedicated alcoholic had to live with all other negative family ramifications.
I couldn't wait to get my azz out so I joined the military just prior to 18 and I was gone goose.
I joined with my best friend and we didn't even tell our parents until after the fact.
We were lucky enough to see each other briefly when deployed during Operation Colorado.
They found it hard to believe we kept it to ourselves.
