I mean spend some time in crampons and with an ascender. The skills for Everest aren't really high level for mountaineering. Fitness and mental fortitude are certainly needed. There have been many relatively unskilled people that have summitted Everest, but also many that died. I still think most of that is fitness (and decision making in overestimating fitness or summit fever).
What I can comment on is what a "special forces" fitness level is.
Make no mistake, it's still a huge climb at extreme elevation and some people just can't due to altitude sickness (hape/hace) even when in shape but it's not a climbers climb if that makes sense. Personally I'd rather do ama dablam (my friend did it and it looks fantastic).

They would have a better shot at it simply because they are very fit and used to challenging themselves.
That said you can be as tough as hell but cant just walk off altitude related sicknesses. There are very real danger associated with them. If a guy is a seal for example and spend 99% of his time at sea level, the high altitude will be very hard on his system until he gets acclimated to it.
