Been trying to figure out the math. Seems impossible this day and age. I'm guessing $200k. Max retirement, healthcare, all bills paid inclduing decent house and 2 cars, kids college, and a few vacations.

I got a family member doing it. He makes about 50k/year or so. Just bought a house in a **** neighborhood, drives cheap but reliable cars, watches his money very carefully, makes good use of tax incentives and other ways to keep more money.
It can be done if you live within your means. Also on occasion the rest of the family chips in with clothes and hobby stuff for the kids every so often. Families a hundred years ago raised several kids on meager means.

Love it when the commies think "reasonable" is top 12 percentile household income.
As if you would come anywhere near that if they got what they wanted...
I lived on 60k with a family of 5. (Granted this was a several years ago so I would imagine it is about 70k in todays dollars). Very tight, but doable.
I would say 85K in most non-urban areas would give you a decent life. (56 percentile)Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

You can easily have a 5-600k house in the south on a 100k-150k income. Depends on how educated your wife is...if her earning potential is only 30-50k, let her stay home...daycare will cost far more when you factor in multiple kids. I chose to allow my wife to stay at home and work part time while i make the real money. It's great having a stay at home mom. Women don't have the mental capacity for work, or the mental fortitude to multi task a work/life balance like men do.

i think they're good at some jobs...teachers in primary or elementary for example because that kinda takes a lot of "motherly" kinda stuff for kids that age and networking with other female teachers/parents. for example my woman messaged me today saying a 6 year old at her school that she ate lunch with decided to start squishing her face around to make funny faces and she said he had the cutest little giggle...

One of my business partners does it, he only pays himself about 90k/yr. Granted his cars, insurance, medical etc is all paid through the company. So 90k/yr to cover mortgage and home expenses isn't too bad.
I know people that have done it on less and not having those perks as well though. Just depends where you live and what kind of lifestyle you want.

If you get a nice frugal Filipina from the province it will cost you about $300 a month tops. ded fkn serious. Probably even save you money, by cooking at home and already being frugal minded. buying thrift finds. chit like that.
they also don't need to be stay at home moms forever, once kids are out of the house she can get a part time job. you don't want them working full time, they need to do house chores and cook."We are as our thoughts have made us; So take care about what you think, Words are secondary , Thoughts live ; They travel far."

In New York / Cali, probably $200k+.
In a zero tax low-med CoL area like Texas probably $100k/yr, especially if you're willing to "just do the match" for 401k.i7-14700k
