Balancing Boxing and Bodybuilding, Seeking Advice and Help

    Greetings! I'm a 31-year-old male, standing at 175cm and weighing 60 kg.

My journey with tennis began at the tender age of 6, and I continued playing until I turned 22. However, life took a turn, and I abruptly stopped. Consequently, I noticed some weight gain after getting married, and my weight reached 69 kg. Determined to regain my fitness, I embarked on a mission, and within three weeks, I successfully shed 9 kg.

Here's a glimpse of my workout routine:

Day 1: Focus on Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps.
Day 2: Target Back and Biceps.
Day 3: Concentrate on Leg workouts.

I made sure to allocate two days for rest each week, like this:

    Sunday: Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps
    Monday: Rest
    Tuesday: Back and Biceps
    Wednesday: Legs
    Thursday: Rest
    Friday: Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps
    Saturday: Back and Biceps
My primary goal was to build muscle mass, and I successfully lost 9 kg following this regimen. I can now see my abs, but muscle growth seems to be progressing rather slowly.

Additionally, I've recently joined a boxing class, which meets three days a week on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday. Participating in this class has highlighted the importance of improving my overall fitness and stamina, as boxing demands more energy than one might initially think.

To strike a balance between my boxing aspirations and my bodybuilding goals, I researched and came across the 2-day split push/pull routine:

    Day 1 (Push):

    Bench Press
    Shoulder Press
    Tricep Dips
    Leg Press (optional)
    Day 2 (Pull):

    Pull-Ups or Lat Pulldowns
Rows (e.g., Bent-Over Rows or Seated Cable Rows)
    Bicep Curls
    Deadlifts (or Romanian Deadlifts)
The twist in my schedule is that I can actually hit the gym twice a day. I start my first workout session at 3 AM and then attend boxing class at 8 PM. After a few hours of rest, I'm back at the gym again, either at 3 AM or 5 AM.

In conclusion, my quest involves effectively balancing my passion for boxing with my desire to achieve bodybuilding results. With the flexibility to work out twice a day, I'm determined to make progress on both fronts. Any advice or suggestions on optimizing this balance would be greatly appreciated!

I would assume boxing demands a lot of energy. Working out at 8pm and 3am doesn't seem like a good plan for recovery. Even 8pm and 5am doesn't seem great, but it's more doable. Proper recovery matters as much as your training.

Lots of "boxers" who post in this forum. We should start a boxing federation.

A 2 day full body or 3-4 day upper lower split would make way more sense. Trying to do two things like that at once is a good way of being mediocre at both tbh. Boxers don’t lift that many days per week and I even know elite lifters who lift 4 days…but no one ever listens on here anyway.

Heavy weights and bulking big is going to hinder your ability in the boxing ring bro.

If you are just doing it for a hobby then oh well but if you are seriously trying to compete. Not what you want to do

the whole boxing thing is not a serious thing, so I am not aspiring to be an elite in it, but it is actually god for fitness, it demands high fitness, and I regret never doing any of fighting sports in my life so am going for it now

Like i said if your just messing around. Sure 3 dsys a week is enough to play around and learn a little

But if you were taking it serious and wanted to try and win in the right you would need a full five days. Sometimes 6.

    Hope you enjoy it

Cool. I’d just run a decent routine that’s been proven to work. If you’re under 315s/225b/405 dl you can get away with a 2-3 day fb. If over something like an upper lower split will probably be more effective. Lyle McDonald’s gbr, fierce 5 or whatever you enjoy..

^^This right here. Two days of full body strength training with three boxing sessions a week, still gives you time to fit in a run or two.
