    Question about daily meal smoothie (from a new guy)

    Hello all! New to these parts, and I have a question. As part of my diet (losing weight atm, not building muscle), I've decided to try drinking a smoothie daily as a meal replacement. I messed around with a recipe I like to get one at about 500 calories, mostly consisting of almond milk, protein powder, chia seeds, a bit of honey, peanut butter powder, and freeze-dried kale powder. All of those things I'm sure are fine.

    My real question is: I've been adding 1 tsp of Metamucil and 1 tsp of Potassium Citrate recently. Is that considered safe/healthy in the long run? Especially the Potassium Citrate I'm unsure of; so long as it's mixed with enough liquid and I don't have too high daily potassium MG intake, is it safe to take daily or does it have side effects?

    And then after those 2, depending on the answers, follow-up questions: Could I make this smoothie a twice-daily thing? 2 smoothies + 1 meal totaling between 1500 and 2000 calories. And at that point would THAT be too much of the Metamucil and Potassium Citrate.

    A few years ago the water pipes in my garage froze. I had no water. I used water from my toilet to make my pre workout coffee. Nothing is wrong with me, so I would not be too concerned about the Metamucil and potassium citrate.

    btw, I also eat raw eggs in my protein shakes. Nothing is wrong with me.

    You’re better off getting your nutrients from whole foods, not highly processed foods or supplements. You can still put them in a smoothie.

    For example, almond milk, oats, peanut butter, banana, blueberries, baby carrots, spinach. Maybe chia seeds; you probably don’t need honey as the above items contain enough natural sugars to sweeten your smoothie enough.

    This will still taste good and you won’t need to take Metamucil or potassium supplements.

    It will also have enough protein. You likely don’t need protein powder and generally taking it daily I would advise against as it’s highly processed and typically contains artificial sweeteners.
