I am so scared, Misc. My doctor gave me a weight loss pill that's a stimulant. I was fine with 1/2 tablet, but I started taking 1 tablet per my Dr. on Wednesday and today I feel like I'm on Pepsi or something. My heart is pounding, I'm shaky, zero appetite so I ate nothing but a few slices of an apple so I think my blood sugar also tanked. So far I've pushed in 1,000 calories but I'm full.
My doctor told me to order a blood pressure monitor and monitor my pulse with this drug.
I have to hold on to objects as my sense of balance is off. I started throwing up heavily and couldn't walk, so luckily my daughter is home visiting from college and grabbed the anti-nausea medicine for me. I only have 1 pill left, though, so I just emailed my Dr. and hopefully he will check his messages and send in a refill tomorrow.
As you know I've been battling pneumonia this past month and this last week was when I returned to the office. It is so hard to just get dressed and drive as I'm so exhausted. My Dr. said I should feel back to normal mid-October.
I certainly hope so as I'm going to Thailand Thanksgiving week and I really want to go diving! I've sold thousands of dollars of wedding china and silverware on eBay to pay for this trip.
Things don't look good, though. I've been in the ER twice with low blood oxygen and almost again today. I may just end up laying out on the resortFuark.

You need to hydrate. If it's the one I'm thinking it is, you need to get some Pedialyte, Gatorade and a glass of water, sip them, but get them all down as fast as you can.
After that, heat up some broth and drink that. Then go back to Gatorade and water.
Benadryl will help the high wear off and help you calm down a bit. Then take a Naproxen (NOT IBUPROFEN) because the headache when that stuff wears off is nasty.
Also, probably go to the urgent care if you can. IV is way fasterBrosefMengele is my #1 fan.

Was going to say this.
but also the pneumonia itself can also cause all of those symptoms. I've only had pneumonia once (when I was 9) and I remember not having an appetite and therefore being dizzy.
You need to drink (or sip throughout the day) some electrolytes, like Pedialyte. Chit is expensive as hell (like $8/liter) but it works well.

Thank you everyone. This is really scary as I don't want to go to the ER for a third time, but I also don't want to pass out and hit my head. That happened in 2008 and I came to but my head hit a lamp so my whole shirt was covered in blood from the head wound. I crawled downstairs to call 911 and my dumb husband was worried the paramedics would wake our daughter!!!!!!
My husband is also out of town and there's so much chit to do in the kitchen and watering his plants but the mess is just the mess. It's not important now.
I can Door Dash some Gatorade and hydrate from this high as yes, my mouth is super dry and I can't drink enough water.
That's true about the pneumonia. I had really low blood oxygen level the first time I was in the ER on Labor Day and they kept me there for several hours as it was at 89, and then it went up to 93/94. The damn machine kept beeping and scaring me to death when my blood oxygen went low.
A co-worker came down with Covid and my other co-workers got pneumonia but we all tested negative for Covid--even with PCR tests. My guess is she had family from India staying with her, so they had a weird strain of Covid that isn't easily detectible. I've never been so sick in my life.
I think I can handle 1/2 tablet of the weight loss drug, but I also have to be careful not to take it past 10am, or I don't get any sleep.
I'm also weaning off of my Abilify drug that causes weight gain and high blood sugar/cholesterol. I should be off of it in 4 months--hopefully!!Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown 🤡 World out there.

Yes. I have worked with a nutritionist and before this pneumonia I worked out 5x a week--just weights and walking as I have spine degeneration from years of competing in tennis. I hope to try pickleball when I get better.
My problem is that my Weight Management Doctor said that 5 of my anxiety and depression meds cause weight gain! 5!!! I started taking these in 2018 and gained over 50 lbs.
I lost 10 lbs with Ozempic 1.0 but then the weight loss stalled with this pneumonia, so he increased the Ozempic to 2.0 last week and added this stimulant diet pill. He had said I would lose 60 lbs in 6 months and it's been 4 months and only 10 lbs! I'm so frustrated, although I feel much better with 10 lbs off of me. My knees don't hurt any longer.
I really want to lose the extra 50 lbs by next spring!Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown 🤡 World out there.

Unless the meds are for real medical reasons. Physical medical reason. How about quiting all the bullchit medical. And like someone said est healthy and workout, stop drinking garbage if you do and drink water
In six months you would be shocked to discover you feel so much better"it takes a wise man to know when he is in error and a noble man to admit to it"

just skimmed this post and read this again. It sounds like you're taking that phentermine/topiramate combination drug which makes perfect sense. phentermine is a literal stimulate that acts as an appetite suppressant (it also boosts your metabolism which raises your blood pressure) and is literally an analog of amphetamine drugs. So, you are in fact exhibiting the symptoms as if you're on "pepsi"
then coupled with the pneumonia and its a perfect combination of events to feel chitty. I'd simply cut out the weight loss pill until you recover from the pneumonia. The absolute best thing you can do for weight loss is diet, but to also be consistent. Even if you're super busy one day and you can only do a 20 minute workout its still better than nothing. It doesn't have to be anything intense either. Sometimes just a moderate yoga session is all you need.
but again, you shouldn't be doing anything to rigorous if you have pneumonia. Getting better from pneumonia should be top priority.

I am tapering off of my psych meds but my weight loss management specialist put me on 2 meds for weight loss since I take 5 psych meds that cause weight gain. Right now I am focused on tapering the Abilify over the next 4 months.
Oops I found some Gatorade and I've had most of it! I also took my aunt's benzo to calm my body down as I feel like I'm on Pepsi.

Yeah he prescribed phentermine and OMGosh 1 tablet makes me feel like I'm on Pepsi. I ordered a blood pressure monitor as my doctor wants me to monitor that and my heart rate daily.
That's a good idea to wait until I'm fully healed from pneumonia. They aren't happy that I stopped losing weight but I'm not exercising 5x a week with pneumonia. I'm lucky if I can get dressed and go to the office. Just that wipes me out!
My doctor said to just try to walk 10 minutes, and then add to that slowly . Then lift 1x a week, 2x a week, etc.Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown 🤡 World out there.

Well yes. I'll never take this dose again. I was OK on 1/2 tablet.
I just need to know how to get through this high without harming my health even moar.
HR is 82, which is high for me as I have a low HR. I don't know BP as that device is arriving tomorrow.Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown 🤡 World out there.

Its actually pretty hard to OD on stimulants without a pre existing issue. If it were me, I'd try to relax and just chill out for a while. They can cause panic attacks and anxiety which sucks... go to a hospital if you are worried about it.

I have a really low heart rate - usually 50-60 beats per minute, and low blood pressure - 100/70, considering my age being over 50 and being overweight.
I'm starting to feel more normal with a benzo and Gatorade. Gosh that was scary. Thanks Misc. Hopefully I can sleep tonight!Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown 🤡 World out there.
