I get that the USA has military bases and stuff in SK but outside of that there's still a fuk ton of non Koreans running around. Only been here a few days and it feels like they're everywhere and I'm in a "small" city. Not Seoul or anything like that. Went out last night to explore a little and might as well had been Korea Town in San Francisco.
Interestingly it's hard as balls to get into bars or clubs here because the military ****s ruined everything. Adding to that, SK might be one of those places where not being White gives you more leniency. Feels like there's too many stigmas going on because of the issues stemming from the military stuff.
For some positives, they fuking love coffee. Coffee shops everywhere. Women are banging and highly fashionable. Even the dudes are semi no homo. They just care about looking good over here and looking good doing it - think of like expensive shopping areas like Beverly Hills or Tribeca, etc. with daily dresswear (surgery BS aside). Your average Korean guy would looks mog the fuk out of any average American dude.
Everything runs on apps and to use them efficiently (tourists are SOL) you need to have a Resident Card which takes about 2 weeks to apply for. There's +/-'s to that but for now it's a big -. Overall it's a pretty nice place. Biggest hindrance to anyone coming here is if you don't know Korean. Most Koreans have beginner level English unless in a service industry job. Women seem to have more English ability than men for some reason. But even then when spoken it's easy to understand.
Internet is amazing as advertised. Can't think of anything else right now.

Not yet. In some ways if you've already traveled to Asia there's a lot of stuff you've already seen before. Only major change is just the language and the signage but the overall structure and layout of things is very copy and paste. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I don't feel inclined to go picture crazy since it just looks all familiar to me anyways. I'm sure I'll eventually find something interesting. But for now still getting set up and adjusted.

Honestly wouldn't even think to want to chance it. Foreigners because of the military issue already have a huge negative against them so trying something like that would only add to that type of issue which I don't plan to. Most foreign travelers already have a bad rap within the bar/club scene. Not just in Korea but in general because most act like dipshts or entitled ****s. I haven't been here long enough to really see the distinction between how Whites and non-whites are treated. Guy I talked to from back home who lived in Korea for 3 years brought up the military thing as a big issue as to why many clubs/bars are Korean only. I guess way back when they tried to play nice and got burned, no idea. Most Foreigners just stick to "foreign friendly" pubs or sht like that. Which I personally don't like/enjoy. I like to go to the club and have some good DJ's, dancing girls, and just fall into the culture. Can't do that when you're at a pub filled with people bitching about their life story all evening.
Long term, yes. Rebooting my teaching career after a hiatus.Official MISC Coffee Drinkers V2 thread:

Honestly, as long as you try to just live a normal life and enjoy what it has to offer you then it's actually a pretty sweet place. Once you start getting the "lust" stuff going like going to bars/clubs/singing places or trying to purposefully hunt for chicks, I think you'll start seeing a lot of the negative stuff really quickly. One big thing about that too is, and this is widely talked about when looking up stuff online, but Korean guys apparently are extremely jealous. From what I read so far they caution against trying too hard to pick up chicks as apparently you'll get yourself into a bad situation or argument quite easily.
Back in China MOST guys couldn't give a sht although it did happen occasionally. Apparently in Korea it's a pretty common thing though.Official MISC Coffee Drinkers V2 thread:

Thanks, appreciate it. Beijing is overrated. Only spent like 2 weeks there initially but yeah not a place I'd want to stay in. COL is insane. Too many people/cars. Smoggy as hell. Something nuts like over 200K+ expats living there and that was 8 years ago. You go down to San Li Tun? It's the bar/club scene there. My very first international drinking experience. Met two chicks with a British guy as my wingman from our group. Fun night but yeah went 0-100 with the alcohol.

Cool. I remember watching the 08' games and the Birds Nest. Never imaged actually going there though. How'd you manage to only do a language school for 6 months? Granted it was some time ago but nowadays you need to commit to at least one year I think. Actually I take that back. Student visas are 180 days and then you can renew. So yeah makes sense then. Most people I know did at least a full year.

Huh, why leave though. Medical care/surgery is a lot cheaper there. I had an ambulance ride, ER, stitches, and 5 days in the hospital and ran me about 1,000 USD. Guy I knew wanted to get foot correction surgery for one of his toes. Saved about 8K having it done there.

You do realize you just supported what basically happens in the US right? Foreigners go overseas and act like dinks and try to chase the women, like SK, Japan, or Thailand. Meanwhile in the US ethnic dudes/Blacks (primary group acting like idiots) are snagging up all the White women and y'all are complaining about it. Same sht different country.
