LOL we demand to "work" from home in our pajamas instead of showing up to the office
Such a smart move by businesses to call their bluff so they quit on their own instead of having to terminate them

Agreed, it’s a great risk-free way to lean-out your company and slash your labor expense overnight with only a very small drop in overall revenue, gross margins will go through the roof srs.
Lots of these tech companies are bloated anyway, Musk figured that out his first day at Twitter.
These fukin dicks staying at home all day with their cats answering emails and getting on a couple virtual meetings a day for six figures can seriously become homeless drug addicts for all I care. I home their cats die. The companies themselves are to blame for creating this sense of entitlement.
There is a sense among workers that the company should be SOOOOO GRATEFUL to have them.

Good, srs.
Quite a few employers are just trying to protect their precious real estate investments with this "back to the office" push.

It may not be the sole reason, and it may not be all corporations/employers but it plays a part.

If you don't want to and can find something else that suits you better, all the more power to you. However, otherwise look at the terms of your employment. I have a remote job now which I was hired as remote, and going into the office 200mi away is not reasonable. Of course it depends on your industry and situation.

If working from home were actually a way of achieving the same output for these companies, they'd abandon their Real Estate without a second thought. But it's not.
I'd assume many will be going to a hybrid model, where they still have some people working at home and some in the office. But the thing is, they can't be paying people a full $100k+ salary to work from home.
So they'll let a bunch of $100k WFH people go, and bring back new WFH people doing that same job for 50% of the salary.
This is a way to re-organize their companies in a different environment to accurately reflect the new realities.

If 95% of your job is on a computer and/or electronically processed whats the point in going to the office when it can be done at home?
At this point, "going to an office" for a job that doesn't require the person to go to a different building (other than their home) to work is really coming off as a "tradition" and because its always been that way, then people want to keep it that way.
Even if I wasn't WFH (i'm hybrid) I still want MORE WFH jobs in the market because that means there's less traffic on the roads for those of us that HAVE to work on-site.
I feel like a broken record saying this, but if you really think people are more productive in an office (when their job can be done from home) you've never worked in an office. They'll still fart around just as much in the office as they would at home, but instead of folding laundry or watching after kids, they're in the next cubical over chatting with their co-worker or fiddling with their phone.
WFH is here to stay and when the leases to these buildings are up in Q1 of '24...they may decide not to renew, and as these boomer bosses and CEO's slowly retire, WFH will become more and more common place.
I'm sorry your line of work makes it impossible to not commute to perform your duties, but you've been warned for years to "learn to code" it wasn't just a meme, and at this point, you're coming off as being salty that there are people that get to work from the comfort of their homes.Last edited by Maestro; 09-24-2023 at 11:21 AM.

lol the jews are winning, they overhired during free covid handouts and they tricked all these idiots to lay themselves off without having to pay severance or unemployment. So now all these people that quit are competing with each other for any company that is hiring full remote jobs right now, which that number will be very low and there will be a lot less full remote jobs than applicants. they just cucked themselves, the jews always win

lol at acting like all businesses have their lease renewal dates in sync at the same time. there has been no real change to company office spaces. There has been no real change to traffic patterns. WFHcels are this delusional. The gravy train is over and Mr. Sheckelstein expects your ass in office. This is so your supervisor can monitor you in person.🌺 Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 – Jan 29, 2022

My job was 100% remote at the height of the pandemic and now we're on a hybrid schedule, but We also hired remote workers during the pandemic. I'm in San Diego and we have some people working from Tennessee and Florida. They're given an exception based on mileage away from the office. So, They're still remote.

It really depends on the industry. I'm in Biotech, and while the larger/older drug companies (Takeda/Pfizer/Abbott/Eli Lilly etc) are slowly enforcing 100% on-site, the smaller CRO/CMO startups that have less than 500 employees are typically run by younger Gen X/Elder Millennials and cater to GenZ applicants with largely remote and hybrid roles because they're just trying to get people on-board. The break rooms are always "hip and trendy" with free snacks, and the back wall is lined with Kureig coffee makers and instead of microwaves they have air friers and chit. Its really quite nice. Not sure how sustainable it is though, lol.

I process work that's all uploaded and tracked digitally. My work needs no collaboration in office. We now go in 3 days a week. I do more work at home than in the office and my numbers are up there. My wfh is numbers/production based. When I'm in office there are no number requirements.
Jfl. Also work in a specialized unit that takes workers about 3 years to train. Lose them at your own risk, I'm doing 1.5x the work of someone else who hired on same day and I'm looking for other 5 day wfh jobs to replace this with
Nvm you don't even understand how offices are organized lol.
