yea very interesting allocation of resources.
The Abu Dhabi event obviously makes a lot of sense, extremely wealthy audience with muslim focus and served a major role in helping UFC maintain events throughout COVID, solid card with strong backup
Then we have 295 at MSG going all in on Jon Jones again vs a 41 year old opponent with no safety net. If Stipe can't make this fight the entire event is cancelled again. They can have Pavlovich as a backup but we know Jones won't take an alternate opponent he hasn't prepared for and doesn't care if that means an entire PPV gets cancelled, very risky.
Not putting anyone else on the card with Jones could also have something to do with how much they've had to pay him to come back at HW. His cost has to be very high and does not leave much room for any other high cost fighters on the event based on their target margin projections.

Mate I've been on Johnny Walker train since contender series/he got those highlight KO's when he first joined - even when everyone was making fun of him for the 4/5 losses I was still hopeful. Initially it looked like going with SBG Ireland wasn't the best idea but he's really coming to his own now and taking things a bit slower in the octagon. He just has that positive attitude no matter what. I hope his defence has improved even more and we see Walker vol 2.5.

I think Johnny has more than a decent chance of winning it assuming he gets a fair shake in Abu Dhabi. I'm not sold on Ankalaev being anything special. UFC has been pushing all these other Dagestan guys trying to capitalize on the Khabib hype but what has Ankalaev actually done? The LHW division has been extremely weak and Ankalaev has not looked impressive and also showed some serious entitlement issues, while Walker has looked great in his last few fights. I can see him out striking Ankalaev much like he did to Smith.
