How much can you honestly rate Khabib when he gapped it so early
Honestly I think as time goes by his reputation is just going to get less and less.
Last weekend was just another example of how things work in the UFC, the ultimate rock paper scissors.
Khabib was real smart and knew this, he got out Super early because I don't think his ego could handle a loss, and in ufc, everyone loses and so would Khabib have.
Khabib was the man while he was fighting. No doubt about it. He was undefeated and he beat the best in the division. RDA was a monster when Khabib beat him. Edson Barbosa was a killer when he fought Khabib, too. The win over McGregor needs no explanation. Then Poirier and Gaethje?
So yes, he was a dominant fighter/champion for a certain period of time.
But Khabib won four title fights. And there's no way you can compare that to GSP, Anderson, DJ, Fedor. Even Adesanya has eight title fight wins. Max Holloway has five. DC has six.
To put Khabib's four title wins in lightweight perspective, Benson Henderson also won four title fights. Frankie won three. Yes, those were different eras and they weren't undefeated like Khabib.
Khabib is 100% in any conversation, but it's definitely not cut and dry.

people bring up him dominating... like do they forget what Jones did on his comeup? Jones was more unbeatable than Khabib and that was past his 3rd title defense...
ofc he's going to look unblemished when he retired so early
he missed the weight cut vs justin and ufc covered it up...
I don’t think he was scared to lose, or that his ego couldn’t handle it.
I just think he was ready to quit fighting, and didn’t have the heart for it anymore. Achieved what he wanted to achieve, and wanted to focus on other things, including coaching his protege and friend to be the champ.
You are really trying to impose western sensibilities and traits onto someone where they simply don’t apply. His ego and pride would have kept him fighting, kept him chasing money, chasing legacy. He doesn’t care, and people have a hard time accepting it.
He is an all time great, but not in the GOAT discussion for me.
