What a fire year for gaming, GOTY time is going to be so fun. I can't remember a year that so many games are in the conversation.

True, it’s been a huge year. I think most of them will go to Baldurs gate and Zelda though. But there are a lot of games that are “goty quality” this year

if Lords of Fallen lives up to hype then it will be GOTY. It will fill the void of a modern soulsgame since Elden Ring ended up being such a disappointment

Otherwise RE4 remake is a good contender

BG3 is too clunky and buggy its a good game but like a 7.5/10

No but seriously, BG3 is an incredible achievement and has been such a wild journey for Larian studios to reach up to this point. They fully deserve all the awards and accolades.

I just don't think Nintendo ever really deserves to be considered for goty. Everything they do is just a safe game they know will bank on their characters and properties.

The system is old as dirt, they have no room for innovation, so they are just pumping out kid friendly games that are like the comfort food of video games. They are good, they are satisfying, but they aren't doing anything special or pushing the envelope.

To me a game of the year needs to innovate a little bit and bring something at least slightly fresh. Totk, imo, was a very recycled sequel

Sekiro was probably the most different, as it took the souls tone, but completely changed the combat formula

From what I hear BG3 might overall be the best game, however my first instinct would be that it is too niche.... Then again Elden Ring won. Important to consider the journalists voting on this stuff are hardcore gamers.

Should be able to give it to a game twice in a row and crown Elden Ring again, trash coming out this year cant even get close. That said industry is getting more garbage by the year so it wont get any better

Is it really fair to compare last gen to next gen graphics. That's not to say there aren't good looking graphics on switch.

As for Zelda, I honestly wouldn't want a hyper realistic Zelda game. Seems like it would take away some of the magic. The whimsy if you will.

Tbf, I had a great amount of fun with it, even though it's pretty much just a collectathon with magical polish. The combat had me hooked from start to finish though.

If the main story wasn't so meh, it would have a shot I think.

I might eventually get SF6. Been hearing great things about it, and it's been a while since I played a traditional fighter.
