And I suck.
Just started playing like a month ago on chess.com
My elo is like 450ish. I feel like this game is hard af.
I basically know:
1. Control the middle
2. Try not to blunder any pieces
I can barely do either.
Also, benched 225 last night.

Got into it a few years back after finding the secret chess game on messenger (it's gone now).
So I thought, "Hey, let's go play online with randoms!", and just like playing Street Fighter online for the first time, I got my ass dragged through feces.
Started doing tactics, learning about controlling the center, importance of developing pieces early, etc.. Currently a decent player, but have no delusions of being anywhere close to 2000 in this lifetime.***The Misadventires of Gandalf the Black***

Develop knights/bishops first towards center rooks and queen are better in the endgame
Castle asap
Don’t leave pieces undefended
Each turn go through each piece and see where it can move, same with your opponents pieces
Learn basic checkmate techniques king/queen king/2 rook king/1 rook
Point system
Pawn 1
Knight/bishop 3
Rook 5
Queen 9/10
Trade evenly and when you are up material trade all pieces evenly and check mate
Practice tactics most common are forks/pins/discovered attack
Play long time control games not blitz
