Did the Darren Drozdov incident ruin D-Lo’s career too? I remember at the time reading the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Meltzer reporting WWE had huge plans for D-Lo and a main event push. I respect both of them btw.
Fwiw you guys can watch dlo brown vs. Val venis . And D-lo brown vs. the British bulldog vs. someone else in a 3 way match. Both took place on ppv. But forget which ones.

D Lo was a good hand but keep in mind he was active during one of the most talent-stacked eras in wrestling. Austin, Rock, Undertaker, prime Jericho, Edge, Kurt Angle, Shamrock, RVD and just so many massively big names with the tagteam scene also being equally full of HOF teams.
Where else was he going to go?All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

A lot of buzz on D-Lo before the feud with Droz. The IWC kept talking about giving him a real push. Even had signs in the crowds saying “Push D-Lo”. Dave and Alvarez was it were saying he had the right tools to be a breakout star. Make him a player. The first black WWF heavyweight champion was wwe goal.
I feel like the unfortunate accident held him down. I don’t know how much heat was on him from creative or from the locker room but might’ve been punished by scrapping plans Vince had for him when that happened. He got lost in shuffle was a pimp-in-training gimmick with the godfather.
Dlo would’ve been a lot more had it not happened.BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

The problem is he was just a good wrestler in a WWE full of great wrestlers. Back in them days you had The Rock, Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Mick Foley, and The Undertaker. You also had the red hot tag division with The Hardy Boys, The Dudley Boys, The APA, and Edge & Christian.

I forgot D-Lo even existed. I read the name in the thread title, and an image of Savio Vega popped into my brain. Then I tried to remember, and D-Lo's thing was he would shake his head when he walked. He was basically jut the "other guy" in Nation of Domination. They should have let Koko Beware in the nation. Then they could have put one of those hats on his parrot. Just imagine the merch sales from black-militant parrot stuffies.
