Maybe that picture will load. Maybe not. If not, it's all the matches or the three some people might give a chit about. Apparently, it's Blood and Guts being given away on Free TV again and I believe already after this feud had a big blowoff Anarchy in the Arena match, so as per usual AEW logic, let's have another match.
I hear MJF and Cole are funny/good. He's the champ apparently, not a bad thing - he's super talented.
Jungle Boy and that mopey guy for some useless title. Nice.
Anyone else give a single fuk about this show or AEW? I hear Collision isn't too bad, so I may record that on Saturdays and watch it the next morning or something. Give me something to do on lazy Sundays.
Edit: nah, picture isn't loading. Who cares.

Collision, or at least the noise around it, is the only reason I'm back. I will probably suffer through Dynamite but I'm with you -- Moxley is trash, the Elite are horrible and a lot of the guys and the style of Dynamite simply isn't for me.
Too flippy, too indy and we hoped they would evolve over time, grow out of this and mature - but NoOoOoOo.
If anything, the Elite have regressed, at least as I saw it about a 3/4 a year back when I threw in the towel. Last episode I watched was the one where Colt Cobana wrestled Jericho, rubbing salt in that fresh wound for no reason. Matty and Nicky just got worse, more trampoline-y and never matched anything close to their good matches, the ones with FTR and the one against their buddies Page/Omega at that one PPV. Every other match they've had is the same routine and it's old.
So, yeah, kind of good to be back -- at least with you guys posting here, if not the show. I will watch this show and I will be fair - although I don't think that matters, are there really even any AEW fans around much these days that might take offense if I go full Jim Cornette with a review?

Collision is the show to watch. They’ve done a soft brand split to keep CM Punk and the Elite and their cronies from each other, so the a acrobats are mostly confined to Dynamite.
And so far, Collision has been more of a sports based presentation. FTR and Bullet Club Gold had one of the best tag matches ever this weekend that you should see if you can.
It’s funny how much better FTR is than the Bucks and all other tag teams.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

Main event is the mess anyone should have predicted. So, the last guys to enter are the Japanese guys not part of the main roster than nobody but a niche sub-section of the audience are aware of? Where is Bryan Danielson? He injured? I don't think I give a fuk about anyone in this match, then - and I actively dislike the majority. This style of match plays to none of these guys' strengths, they all brawl like chit. I guess at least Moxley gets to bring out fake nails and he did do a really good blade job. Esp compared to the pap smear jobs the Bucks did.
Earlier, the MJF/Cole segments were high energy, goofy and maybe beneath the World Champion, but very fun. Cole needs to finish that chicken though, he's smaller than Britt right now. The opening match bw Hook and Jungle Boy wasn't bad.
Thigh slapping should have been added to that list of banned moves. It's too much. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Jungle Boy vs Hook: **
I was playing Etrian Odyssey 1HD so distracted. Probably a good move to beat Hook, though. If Jungle Boy is going to be a heel, he should come out w/ Anna Jay and change his name to Jungle Jack or Jungle Man or something.
Awful interviewer confronts Calis and Jeircho: 0*
Stupid and boring.
MJF/Cole Bro comedy segment: *** & 1/2
I put down my Steam Deck to focus on this, so it at least grabbed my attention. Funny, great chemistry with these two guys. First Bro segment I've seen, so I'm not sick of them at all, fairly entertaining.
Baker/Jobber: **
Squash match, which having taken a lot of time away from AEW, I actually appreciate they will do this now and again to build people up. Back in the day *every* match wanted to be Steamboat/Flair. Sometimes it's good to just have a big star show up and get an easy win. If every match has 47 false finishes, nothing matters.
Cole/MJF vs Garcia/Sammy w/ Jericho commentary: ***
I'm vaguely familiar with whats going on w/ the JAS. Fun match, not a fan of the dancing gimmick from Garcia but the goofy dance off at the start was different (MJF - also the best dancer of all of them, there is nothing this guy can not do well). Again, we all knew the outcome and I'm glad they cut this shorter and didn't prolong it. Good for what it was.
Backstage w/ best friends and others: *
Statlander looks hotter than I remember, very fukable even. Otherwise, none of these guys can talk. I like Darby though.
BLOOD AND GUTS: * & 1/2
Awful and the worst B&G of the three, even more than the Jericho mattress floppery. I gave it an extra 1/2 star only for the ending with PAC leaving and then Callis pulling his man, kind of creative and it might open up new storylines for everyone involved. Hopefully the BCC breaks up and lets Bryan do something else. Maybe Claudio, but I don't know, guy is boring as toast, being w/ a group has done him no favors but I wonder if at this point if he has anything to show if he goes solo or not.
Fine and forgettable? Which, in this match, not standing out is a good thing. None of these guys could brawl but I do not recall him doing anything particularly egregious. Physically, he came off as pretty massive, a lot bigger than you'd expect. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. I re-got my Sling TV, and *only* for fuking TNT/AEW. I do not watch television otherwise. Fortunately, they have an "On Demand" library and I can watch some old shows - including all the Collision episodes. I started watching Gin and Juice vs FTR, but decided to drop it and just start from Ep 1. Give me a few days and I'll try and plow through to catch up

Watching some Collision. Good stuff, more old school actual wrestling. Little things like not grabbing the mic during interviews or burying the refs w spots.so far, been much better than DynamiteLast edited by JUSA; 07-23-2023 at 11:17 AM.

Fans exclusive to AEW: “much better emphasis on pro wrestling and in-ring, not that silly sports entertainment sh*t”
Same fans after their world champion is in a dance off: “Relax, it’s suppose to be entertainment”
Did Moxley blade during the commercial break with basically no cause? It looked like he was just chilling outside the ropes. All these spots with various weapons, yet they can’t even fuking plan a spot around one of the few guys bleeding of any significance. Not that any of it matters, because that fuking loser Mox will be bleeding next week too for anyone who wants to watch, and the week after that too. Really making the “BlOoD aNd GuTs” feel meaningful and different. Since this is an AEW thread, I figure I'd post this here:
Orange Cassidy has his role expanded and is reportedly working as a producer in All Elite Wrestling these days.
According to a report from Fightful Select, the reigning AEW International Champion recently produced two matches including Infantry vs. Kingdom and Big Bill & Brian Cage vs. Matt Sydal & Trent.
For those unaware, the producers in AEW stay on the headset during matches to make sure the timing is right. Of course, they also go over the matches with the talent they are involved with. The producers also relay the information to the production team so they can capture the biggest moments live.

Terrible show thus far, other than the FTR and MJF/Cole interview segments.
AR Fox: Is this the most AEW thing ever? Debut a guy. Not just beat him but beat him with a comedy joke overpushed Orange Cassidy. Immediately turn him heel on his debut episode seconds after his loss. Later have him join a heel faction, as if people should care that a nobody they just saw lose to OC has now joined anyone doing anything.
Everything with the booking of this show is so rushed, as if it would kill anyone to have AR Fox wrestler for a few weeks before his turn and joining whatever Swerve's group is... maybe knowing if the guy could get over or have the fans maybe care about it and his turn.
Speaking of turns, this was a chance to see if Jungle Boy has any personality, like Britt Baker, that might come out w/ a turn. Nope. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

This wasn’t AR Fox’s debut, he debuted last year and they made a big deal out of giving him a contract. He was in a trios with Top Flight but one of them got injured and came back, and then the other got injured shortly after the return, so he’s been lost in the shuffle.
Jack Perry definitely needs someone to talk for him. He should join Don Callis.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

Ah, well that is slightly better - the way they brought him in, I assumed he was given the chance solely bc of Darby, the title shot but also just being there. I forget AEW has a hardon about announcing people getting contracts, like Fuego Del Sol. I remember the huge deal they made about that. Where is he? I haven't seen him around. Surely after that major angle (on Rampage, I think?) they followed through with it?
Speaking of Rampage, how the mighty have fallen. I was watching them announce the line up for Friday and for a moment I thought it was Collision and was thinking, Whoa- this looks fuking unwatchable! and got very disappointed, because Collision has been very good the episodes I've caught. It's like now that they got rid of Dark and Dark Elevation, they just put that chit on Rampage. I am worried some AEW fans alone and miserable on a Friday night will watch that show and just rope then and there -- this might end the existence of a lot of fat losers if TK is not careful.
Hey, here is a question - someone answer me what possible reason on Earth does Chuck Taylor still have a job?
Is it his talent? His remarkable physique? His excellent mic skills? His innate charisma? Because I watched him waddle around the ring last night - and he's only gotten slower, sloppier and just utterly out of shape in the time I've stopped watching. He was always an embarrassment but he now looks like someone addicted to fast food and has completely given up.
*That* is what was main eventing this show. With the fuking plumber. And those spotmonkey Lucha Brothers. Also Claudio - and people talk about how great he is. I don't see it. Awful fake punches like everyone else and does the same spots - ones I'd call goofy, but compared to everyone else, just less goofy. This was one of those guys who was organically getting over but WWE "held back" -- seems more like he was benefiting from the WWE Machine, like Moxley, to make them seem better than they really were.
This was a bad show, right? I've been back two weeks and I'm already about to tap out (at least on Dynamite). All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Fuego Del Sol’s contract expired and was not renewed. Chuck Taylor has a contract because he is friends with the Young Bucks.
This was a filler show. Last week was a major tv event (Blood and Guts) in a major market. And they’ve got a Stadium show at Wembley next month and then the All Out ppv for Labor Day weekend, so they’ll need to start building towards those.
But instead of resetting and slowly building towards new shows, Tony Khan just throws a bunch of **** together and you get shows like this.
Collision has been a vastly superior show since its debut because Dynamite has all of the goofballs and so appears schizophrenic when people talented and serious also appear on the show.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. > Chuck Taylor has a contract because he is friends with the Young Bucks
I understood at the start, AEW was light on talent. You took what you could get. Which meant, the Young Bucks and Omega - plus Cody. At that time, you kind of needed to use the Sonny Kiss' or Joey Janela's, but AEW is so far beyond that now. Now, they have more talent than they know what to do with: including *good* talent like Swerve, Miro, CM Punk, Adam Cole, FTR, Samoa Joe and whatever other ex-WWE or Impact guys they have now they didn't in 2019.
Meanwhile, they've elevated a handful of names: Darby, the Acclaimed, MJF and a few others.
They also have some talent which may be underutilized. Ethan Page, M. Black, whoever.
... it's not even a case that they no longer need the Young Bucks, we're way past the point that it's actively hurting them. On screen, when you jam pack shows with talent that can not get over like the Best Friends, Dark Order or sorry but Lucha Brothers -- all because they are friends w/ the remaining EVPs. Off screen, the EVPs waged a hidden war against the top star in the company behind the scenes and created a massive schism in their modest fan base and drove off fans by the hundreds of thousands right at the time the company was finally slowly growing last year.
Last year, they were slowly hitting 1M and creeping up. They lost that and waver in the 800,000s and in the meantime, WWE from what I hear has stepped up it's game, is no longer the Evil Empire holding talent down and is getting people over (Cody, LA Knight, Reigns, Ownes/Zayn, Bloodline, obv Brock, etc).
The EVPs squandered maybe the only opportunity this company had. Why are they around, again?
Young Bucks and even Omega add little. Their matches, esp the Bucks, are the wrestling equivalent of fast food. Not dense, the same chit every single time, and maybe you in the moment enjoy the trampoline antics but after it's done you feel empty. That is their only selling point as well, none have charisma. Omega looks great but the Bucks are DYEL. None of them can talk.
Would love to see them chitcanned. I don't think WWE would even bother to use them in a big way, like Cody, at this point, as much a non-factor as AEW is to them. They'd meander in developmental, would be inflexible and unable to adapt to the WWE style and quickly be lost in the shuffle. Omega might get one good PPV with Cody before they used him up, but the Bucks would be treated like the laughingstocks they are.All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Nice episode of Collision last night, two stand out segments and the rest of the show being okay.
The Punk/Starks interview delivered. Ricky is able to hold his own with Punk. Not sure the announcement of the guest ref stuck well, but the rest of it was good.
Then the tag match -- which was a very different style than the FTR/Bullet Club one from a couple weeks back. A very high energy "WWE" style match with a lot more modern influence -- and it was great. Crowd was way into Cole and MJF and they build towards the normally goofy hokey slugout at the end. If the trampoline cowboys could take a cue from this and adapt their own style like this, imagine how great Dynamite would be.
With the ending/fallout, I think if Adam Cole has some health issues, and if I were to guess I'm thinking he had a bout of the same thing that took Brock Lesnar out of the UFC. Would explain the time off and his weight loss, but it's also something you can come back from in time. Maybe have him turn down the offer to wrestle MJF and ask to be his manager and cite that he isn't 100%, that he is not himself but he wants to manage his new best friend and then when he's back to himself, only then will he take up his offer.
Give him time to heal and build towards the eventual turn from either man and the match. Right now, *Nobody* wants to see these two as enemies, the crowd is super into their bromance and if Cole is somehow recovering from something, time on the sidelines might help. All truth passes through three stages.
