Once I was at Riverfest.
Three day live music festival in Little Rock with like five stages etc.
good time.
B.O.B. playing.
I was a little self conscious despite being easily top 5% of aesthetics there, my friend convinced to me to take my shirt off.
Obviously women just eye ****ed me all day. Pretty standard stuff for any gym rat in an environment where it isn’t weird to show off being a gym rat and most people there have never seen a gym…..
I am 5’7”.
Me and my friend who is around my height, and DYEL status started making our way to the front of the crowd to be in front of the stage.
I guess people don’t like it when you do this.
Like, even though they could just push their way up front, they don’t, and they yell at other people who do.
This is in a grass field. There is no reserved seating or anything.
Some drunk dude started yelling at my buddy. He was pissed. At least 6 feet. You could feel with his body language he was legit mad. He started yelling at my friend hard af.
It took me a second to realize he wouldn’t even look at me going off on this rant. Once I saw the weakness, I slowly walked up to him, put my open palm in front of his face, inches away, and closed my fingers as a type of command for him to shut his mouth.
He literally did not even acknowledge me.
His wife/gf looked at me and started begging me to just leave it.
Even though I was all up in space he was not engaging me, only my friend.
He was not a threat at all.
This same thing happens to much smaller degree two or three more times. People just getting passive aggressively mad, but letting us through.
As people do be, most were cool.
So when we got to the front we made some friends and they were saying how they pretty much had to fight their way up there. I didn’t even think about that one guy because most people were cool about it, and I told him I didn’t have that hard of a time.

Wayne is top 20 no doubt
His work ethic is amazing
He was killing every fukin remix back in the day, everything
He’s been consistent since the 90s and still killing it now
jadakiss is top tier and Wayne absolutely murders him. One of my fave wayne verses
And you gotta think how he was killing all of jay zs chit when jay z was killing the game, even jay was afraid of him
Wayne is that guy.

Not a fan of rap in general but I will always respect lil Wayne for not hopping aboard the white bashing movement during BLM riots.
He also spoke about his respect and admiration for a white cop who helped him as a youngster.
This is obviously vert against the grain for a black rapper and I respect him for it srs.

Most here know I’m of the school of Nas, Pun, Big L, etc. New York golden Hip Hop. I grew up HATING Lil Wayne and I grew up when he was at his peak. Tha Carter III era. All of my friends worshiped this man as their GOAT, even people who didn’t normally listen to rap music, and in those days I would brootally clown them for listening to that retard’s garbage.
And truthfully Wayne is the godfather of mumble rap. He inspired the image of these pill junkie, face tatted Zoomers and a lot of their autotune delivery. His influence dumbed down the genre for the worse.
But as I got older I also grew to appreciate Wayne for his contributions to the game. I can say I was unfairly dismissive of his own artistry. If you can get past the surface, Wayne is a legitimate lyricist. Some of his punchlines are quite clever, some hilarious, he can ride a beat and string together bars better than 75% of rappers. His output is almost unmatched. I actually think he spits at a higher level today than he did in his prime. This single he dropped a few months ago is a banger:
I still wouldn’t put him on my top 10 or 20, but he does have talent as an artist.

Could never get past Lil Wayne's delivery and cadence, find his voice annoying. But to be fair the dude put in a lot of work and has some pretty decent wordplay / lyricism.
I do not think his influence was a net gain for hip hop, probably in some way helped influence the entire mumble sub-genre, which is rap at it's low point. Wouldn't even consider it hip hop.
