Question Should i do mixed muscle lifts vs focused lifts?

    Hi all,

    Beginners question.

With my current online training plan, I'm working muscle groups by alternating exercises. For example, for biceps I'll do

    Pronated Curls - 8-12 reps + rest
    Curls - 8-12 reps + rest
Hammer Curls 8-12 reps + rest

Then I'll do that again 2-3 times. So I'm still doing 3-4 sets of Hammer Curls (for example) but with other bicep exercises in between.

My question is, am I better off doing 4 sets of Pronated Curls,THEN moving onto 4 sets of Curls, THEN moving onto 4 sets of Hammer Curls?

    Hope that makes sense?

    Thanks!

If you're able to complete 12 sets of 8-12 reps for your biceps in one workout, it suggests that the intensity of each set is lower than it should be.

Limit yourself to 4-6 sets of curls once or twice each week. Limit yourself to 1-2 variations each time. Be sure the intensity level is high - go very close to failure, to failure, or beyond failure on at least 1 set of each exercise, and the other sets shouldn't be too far from failure either.

It doesn't matter if you alternate exercises or do them sequentially - it's completely unimportant.

Better off doing fierce 5 or all pros. No one wants to hear it but the truth hurts. Don’t turn into a 20 year beginner.

I just do 4 sets of curls a week. But I'm a feeble little 55 year old guy as you can see.
