teacher doesn't understand what freedom means - the kid is allowed to not support things he doesn't support, as long as he's not HARMING others, he's free to not support them. that's freedom.

It is a weird situation. If someone didnt show up to a Juneteenth celebration when I was a kid, I don't think I would notice. But if someone did show up and started being negative due to not wanting to be there, that would rustle my jimmies

I dont agree with the way the teacher was trying to villainize the student. Homosexuality is literally against their religion. And they don't need to schools help to acknowledge Ramadan if in turn they wont respect the ideals of the religion in the first place.
