(Video above, Bush is in the process of condemning Putin for invading Ukraine, misspeaks and says "Iraq" instead of Ukraine. Catches himself and corrects it. Then under his breath says, "Iraq too". Audience bursts into laughter)
I don't get the joke. Why is Putin so evil but it's okay for the same people condemning him to laugh about Iraq?

Is it funny or a joke that Putin invaded Ukraine?
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

War is nothing but a punch line for the ruling class. Only fools buy their pablum about "democracy" and condemning "acts of aggression." The same neocons who invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, funded radicals in Syria, and destroyed Libya look at you with a straight face and condemn Russian aggression. How stupid can people be?

Bush is an actual movie super villian. Crazy that all it took for the left to forgive him was feeding Michael some jolly ranchers

It's funny that Putin got played by his advisors, and is too much of a clown to just pull back and move on
As for Bush, he did the same thing. Fake WMDs and a costly failed war where people tried to defend it for years until finally they admitted they needed to get out.6'3 Master Race

The two situations are not analagous. The US was occupying a completely foreign land. Russia is taking land adjacent their border with people who culturally and languistically simlar. Also the Donbass is extremely rich land for farming and minerals.
If Russia withdrawals, it would be a major propaganda win for the West and NATO would be assured to spread to Ukraine. Russia would be completely fuked. But why should they withdrawal....they are winning.Black with a Small Hat

The merits of both wars can be argued, but what's obvious is that both Putin and Bush were sold on "easy victories" that turned out not to be, by their advisors. At some point Russia will have to withdrawal, too bad for the Russian people Putin didn't do that after a few weeks.

Yes they aren't analogous. Iraq was a dictatorship run by a psychopathic crime family who were guilty of everything from genocide to mass rape to torture and mutilation of children and directly killed a few hundred thousand people during their reign. There were already humanitarian calls for military intervention there from people who never bought into any WMD propaganda (eg. Christopher Hitchens).
Ukraine had many problems but was none of the above things. No Ukranians were ever seen rejoicing in the streets during any part of the Russian invasion, while Iraqis did.
Neither war was ultimately ever justifiable of course, but to suggest that the invasion of Ukraine was somehow more reasonable or defensible than the invasion of Iraq is something quite special. Then again I've always had my suspicions that you are retarded.Misc Crypto Crew

Who killed more Iraqis? The US or Saddam? Include sanctions. The math is clear on this.
Ukraine openly praises nazi collaborators and was denying the language rights of Russian Ukrainians. They refused peace. They refused to implement Minsk 2. It was Ukrainian nationalists (nazis) that began the violence by burning communists alive in the trade union house in Odessa.
The invasion of Ukraine is far more justifiable. Russia had moral, strategic, and material reasons to attack. The US invasion of Iraq only makes sense in the context of US aggression toward Iran on behalf of Israel. You can look at the map to see the gameplan clear as day.
Or we can take the Supreme Commander's of Allied Forces, Europe word on it.

No fuks given if it's joke worthy or not. I just want NATO (90% the US) to back the fuk up. In the words of Kamala the Communicator "a big country invaded a smaller country and that's wrong." Iraq anyone? Corporate media was trying hard AF to get the US invading Syria during Obama's time. Some Syrians were happy to oblige with staged, fake chemical attacks. Thankfully people saw through that or we'd have 100,000 troops in Syria now, having installed a Western approved dictator. But yeah, Russia bad. US government good.

Remenber when Barbara Lee was the only person to urge restraint before the Afghanistan war? Those of us who are right and speak truth will be relentlessly attacked. We will be called traitors and told we are cowards, etc. In the end, we will be proven right. I warned people about the weakening of US Russia relations long ago. I remember telling people I was against the Afghanistan and Iraq wars only to be insulted. Today, I am against the Ukraine war, and I am told I am a Russian sympathizer (guilty as charged). People are stupid. Most take time to come around to the truth.
It's easy to be antiwar during peacetime. Much harder to be antiwar when it actually matters.

Bush was describing "the baddies," followed by a Freudian slippy-poo, outright admitted that, "yeah, we're the baddies," but the whole lot of them laughed it off because, "well, the Russians are even bigger baddies, so this time it's okay." It's always a joke in hindsight to these people - after they've sold their wars, like pissing on the graves of all those lost because of them.
Well said, it's the same exact ploy, time and time again. Just say it's for "democracy" and it's already half in the bag. Look how many morons continue falling for the same cries about threats to "democracy."
History just continues to repeat itself with a new batch of suggestible morons taking the bait to support another round of US interventionism that costs us (not the elites) millions, billions, or even trillions, throws thousands of lives to the meat grinder, nets those same unaffected elites and the military industrial complex a hefty profit, and destabilizes entire regions for decades to come. The US needs isolationism not only to refocus on our own failings, but to spare the rest of the world from our hawkish leaders.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
