I don't know how the experience is gonna be going backwards in the series, but Vice City and IV are my 2 favorites (you either hate or love IV, it's that kind of game)
San Andreas is awesome as well but I put Vice City in higher regard, and V is amazing but I honestly prefer 1 protagonist
III is a milestone in gaming but really not worth visiting today imo+++ miscin' at work crew +++

SR 3rd is still by far the best in the franchise IMO and still worth playing today. It was everything I wanted out of a GTA game. Saints row 4 was ok but felt like an expansion and I wasn't a fan of the world aesthetic. The whole turning into Neo from the Matrix thing was kinda cool but I enjoyed messing with the vehicles in SR3 more than just bouncing around in SR4.
SR3 also gave us this

The third game is my favorite. It's pretty over the top compared to GTA games. It's not unusual to shoot someone and their bodies will 180° cartwheel into the ground. The dialogue can be silly and funny. Great music, too. I like the chill atmosphere of the game. Everything is exaggerated, but just enough where it isn't comically bad.
