OP there are too many good games to make a proper Top 5. I've played 99% of the ones mentioned and agree with most.

IMO, NFS 3: Hot Pursuit for PC was superior and NFS II SE is pure nostalgia.

A couple games:

1. Doom (1993) deserves a mention, people are still making new levels for Doom and Doom 2 to this very day. Sometimes the original designer John Romero makes new levels too.

2. Yoshi's Island for the SNES. Visually beautiful game and a lot of fun.



Also, speaking of the Donkey Kong Country series, I actually played all three somewhat recently and beat them. I always disliked the third game ever since it came out but I found it a lot more fun this time around. I used a code to make the game more difficult. The code deletes save stations and makes it so you can get the maximum percentage when you beat the game. I found it a lot more fun to play the game this way, with the added difficulty. Otherwise, the game is too easy.

IDK, I've never been much of a gamer (besides the few years in the mid-late 90s when I was really into text based MUDs). The ones that stick out to me are the following PS2 games

Come to mind. I love Medieval Fantasy, but have never been able to really get into the Elder Scrolls shyt.

Man I got into that for a bit a couple years ago or so (and VERY rarely might play it - I pretty much lost interest), but man...that game can be extremely rage inducing. I've often wanted to put my fist through the wall because of it.



That looks pretty much identical to the MUDs I mentioned. There was a few years where I was addicted hard to those. There's one called Aardwolf that is still around from the 90's that I played for a bit a couple or so years ago (mostly during work hours, heh), but then lost interest.

My wife got really pissed because I was hooked and sometimes I forgot about her condition...you know hormones and all. *shrug*

Fuark, now I kind of want to log on again. The thing about that game is there are so many remorts and tiers to progress though, you have to grind hard and if you're an all or nothing type...


On another note - One (browser like early 2000s style) game I currently play that is addictive, but not very time consuming is mmatycoon. Make fighters and manage their careers, it has quite a bit of depth to it to make it interesting.
