DIY repair of a chipped windshield?

Has anyone found a product that will actually fix chips in a windshield? I got one yesterday. Its not splintering, hell, its not even a star, its just a small chip but I want to get it filled before the heat of the summer rolls in

I've looked on youtube at a dozen or so repair kits and they're ALL garbage.

I'm actually willing to go to Safelite or some other local place, but i'm not sure what pricepoint I should expect and I don't want to get ripped off. I'm assuming its going to be at least $150 or is that too much?

most of the repair kits are basically the same. They are all fine. Problem is actually ensuring you get all the air out of the chip/crack. If you don't get it right, you'll have a pocket in there which then you can never repair again.

Can you just add windshield coverage to insurance and then have it repaired in a month? I've found windshield coverage pays off these days with windshields going for $500-$1500.

problem is most windshield repair guys suck and dont gaf how the repair looks.

any uv curing plunger kit will work just fine as long as you do it at night, i just let it sit overnight and comes out better than any "pro" repair ive gotten
