What's the best type of house to buy/own if you're a singlecel?

A single family home in the burbs with 3+ bedrooms seems like an overkill and boring

A condo sucks because you're sharing walls and stuck with HOA fees and their rules

What's the best to live in and own if you're a singlecel?

I've owned a dozen or so houses, but if I were to do it all over again I would just buy vacant property and then rent an apartment during my hard working years, so I didn't have to mess with maintenance, upkeep, expenses, etc. on a house, but could still develop a homestead property in my free time while still having a clean place to smash sloots.

im designing a 2400 square foot home, modern 2 story on a hillside on the ocean im probably going to build in 2 years. Clearing the land this summer

2000-2500 square feet is really nice as you can have a nice open concept downstairs and a large master suite upstairs with a large office.

Big deck with a hot tub to watch the sunset hnnggggggg

100 acres, 10 acre farmland. hnnngggggggg

Whatever you do try to get something low maintenance

    Avoid flood zone
Avoid a home with a deck
Avoid a home with galvanized pipes (you’ll be sorry)
Avoid Homes with lead or asbestos
Home with old cast iron drain pipe encased in the slab is a financial bomb waiting to go off
Find map of sewer line and see if there’s a lot of trees along the way
Check the age of the roof and kind of shingles used
Check construction for proper flashing and waterproofing
Check basement walls for horizontal cracks
Check ground outside if water would pool around house and cause foundation issues

Basically just buy a cement box in the desert

    2 bedroom house
Quiet neighborhood (get dat dere quality sleep)
Not super cheap or ghetto (you don't want broke/hood neighbors)
    Fenced backyard for a doggo
Close to fun things to do but not directly in the city

Something like this a block from the beach would be sick for a bachelorcel, just gotta wait for these effing prices to come back down to reality:

I've been using a push mower all day everyday for the last 5 days and have only mowed about 2 acres.

I have a tractor with both a brushhog and finish mower for the open areas, but I like to do areas with new tree growth by hand.

i push mow 1 acre and it's about all i want to do...for me don't see the point of like 15 acres unless you're into outdoor chit or riding atvs.

Condo in a building with only 3-4 units. These are common on the edges of urban areas so you're close to things to do, HOAs should be less than $500/mo., and you basically have complete freedom because it's not part of huge association.

Something I’ve noticed with some of the condo/townhome communities around me is that their HOA charges like 400 per month and doesn’t maintain the roofs/exterior of the units. Where tf is all that money going

Check what the HOA covers before you buy

Most of my property is heavily wooded, which is actually more work than grass, since it's so fertile.

I have a 1/2 mile nature walking trail that meanders up and down the hills and around the perimeter that I've put probably 10,000 hours of work into.

Mine is only $180 and covers water, trash/recycling pickup, common area electricity, and the rest saved for occasional maintenance. I prioritized low HOAs, average I saw was probably $300-400 range.

You don't decide what type of property based on the property; you decide what type of life you want to live and then find the property that best suits that life.

If you are buying and staying there for a while, look at what you plan to happen in your life over the next 5 years and take that in to consideration, as well as what your life looks like right this minute.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

If i had to do it allover again i'd choose a smaller house ( currently 2700 sqft ) You only need 500 per family member to live comfortably. In my case that would be 2000. Big houses are overrated asf srs. Op go with something in the 1000-1200 sq ft range srs

Basically just buy a cement box in the desert
Good list. IDK about the deck though...some are well made and not too likely to rot.

    Good advice.

Wanna be able to just lock and leave? A place where you aren't responsible for exterior maintenance could be the way to go.
