    2023 VW golf R

Looking to order one in the next few months. Anyone have experience with this vehicle? The performance is very appealing.

A lot of my family and friends own VAG products, my broski is on his second GTI, my buddy owned two Rs. Everyone hates the new design.

    Get an RS3

Good buddy of mine went from a procharged Mustang GT to a Golf R. He liked it initially but traded it for a newer Mustang GT less than a year later because it didn’t have the raw feeling of the Mustang that he liked. People call them mini GTRs because of the awd, etc but like mentioned before, go for the RS3 if you can.

when guy above says everyone hates the new ones..... the exterior changed sure but the interior is all touch screen bullchit so they are probably talking about the interior. I like the older gen both exterior and interior better, especially the interior having normal AC controls and not touch screen nonsense

The mk8 performance is better though. Maybe they will change their mind like honda who eventually put all the volume and AC buttons back in
How do you like the GTI? It doesn’t seem like I’ll be able to find a new R anyways. I called 3 dealerships in my area they only get 1-2 of these cars per year and selling $15k over MRSP.
I’m looking for something decently quick to commute in. My daily right now is a Jeep Gladiator. I love it, but it’s a lug on the highway.

Just tune it then, it will bring it up to R levels power wise, or get a piggyback if you're worried about the warranty, that will be somewhere around 75% of an actual tune.

Thank you, sir. GTI it is then. I’m keeping the gladiator to haul stuff with. The gti I’ll commute to work with.

Im having a hard time believing people are actually ok with spending $50k on a Golf....

I used to be big into VW's but after the run of utter crap they had in 2000-2010 I have not even considered them as an option anymore.

I will probably pass on it. The mark up and taxes bring it up close to $60k, which I think is ridiculous. I’m looking for an awd, 4 door car with similar performance specs, but I don’t think I’ll find one without a ton of miles for less than $45k

MK8 looks awful imo. But If you like the looks, buy it. Bet it drives great.
