I’m sure that’s the only reason why he’d indict him for this petty crime but what is Braggs rationale? How does this prevent him from becoming president? There will be more, though. This is the whole hush money / campaign finance law violation thing. I don't know if there will be a technical violation of the campaign finance law or not (I predict there will be since Trump considers himself above the law and is very reckless about that), but paying off some bimbo to keep quiet about an affair isn't really all that serious of a crime in the big picture (he should have just admitted it and let her say whatever she wanted - it's not like his voters would have cared). But, he'll be indicted in GA as well for trying to get Raffensperger to overturn GA's election based on the phony election fraud blathering. That sort of tampering with elections is actually a much more serious crime.

Someone about hundred years ago ran for President from jail (and Trump won't be doing time for this alleged crime, even if he's convicted). So people can run for President even with a conviction. Moreover, any trial relating to this indictment won't occur until after the 2024 election because the courts move slow in NYC

The indictment's only effect would be on Trump's favorability ratings; it might give his enemies an attack during campaigns as well. But legally, it won't bar him from running

What you are missing is that the ***normal R's*** in everyday life have moved on from Trump and are ready for fresh new blood.
They have told us this over the last 4 months if you are paying attention and ask about him.
So with this being #1 of possibly a few legal issues, he won't have the rebound or bounce back like he once had when his popularity was super high.
