I can see where you're coming from but there's some animations/level design etc where you could see it was built over the old PS3 code. It's up there though, op will chit himself for sure but something is off....Like lack of mo-cap? Idk, it doesn't play like a modern game.

The only true ps5 games made from the ground up for that platform are Rift Apart and Returnal. They play like PS5 games but Rift Apart isn't realistic looking, and Returnal while beautiful isn't made by a tier 1 AAA dev.

TLOU part 1 suffers from the same issue as Demon's Souls, where it feels like a new skin over an older game. TLOU part 2 is feels better but doesn't have a true PS5 resolution boost.

Forbidden West is the closest so far but still has some PS4 limitations and jank.

Ok it's a little tougher to explain than I thought lol. Despite the basic new animations for attacks and whatnot, Demons Souls is running on the old PS3 code.

Example look at the first fight at the beginning of this video. Certain old animations like when you're walking into the enemy or a wall and your legs keep moving but you're stationary. That sorta thing. You also see lack of modern facial animations and so on during cutscenes



Now compare those combat animations to TLOU part 2 which is leagues ahead

What's better TLOU part 1 or 2?

TLOU 1 = Establishes the world and lore which is fun to experience for the first time. Has a close focus on the two main characters. Short and sweet, but plays a bit clunky. Fantastic narrative, well paced.

TLOU 2 is far longer, World is far more immersive. The narrative isn't as strong and it isn't as well paced but the entire journey is so draining and depressing that it heavily invests you. Combat is far better.

I see what TLOU 2 tried to do, I get what the structure was meant to accomplish and while many hated it, I get the point and I appreciate it. I'd still say overall TLOU1 but definitely play part 2. Just pepper your angus for a misery simulator.

Let’s not forget that it’s still a souls game and they’ve always had those funky character models. The world, the enemies, your character in your armor. They all look amazing to me.

It's still great in terms of pure texture fidelity, lighting, particles etc don't get me wrong. For me I'd put it in 3th place behind Forbidden West and TLOU 2 because those animations and interactions between characters mean alot to me when it comes to immersion.

It looks absolutely beautiful on PS5. I got rekt by the Vanguard Demon, caught me off guard. But yeah that arena looks insane, that pic doesnt do justice to how good it looks. Forgot a lot about this game, watched Asmon stream it a lil but for the most part going in blind.
