Finally got around to playing GTA V and while I still like some of the humor and writing, the game is just not fun.
The big world is just a shallow background. It's only there to make you drive long distances. You do not affect it in any way and there is nothing to discover (like say in Skyrim) other than the trivial stupid minigames. All the NPCs are also mere decorations that don't mean anything.
The controls are utter chit. From driving to shooting to running, it feels outdated and clunky.
The missions are painfully linear. If it's a chase, you can't even catch up with your target before the game wants you to, actually slowing you down if needbe. You have ONE path and ONE way to do anything or else mission failed for no good reason.
Most missions or activities are not fun either. A lot of them are plain tedious like chasing Laslow in a semi or Trevor's rampage missions.
I don't get how they are still selling so many copies. The series has not advanced at all.

I thought it wasn’t? The game’s 10 years old now & the series peaked like 20 years ago with SA & Vice City.
I never hear brahs bring it up on here or elsewhere anymore. Both IV & V are also widely considered some of the most overrated games in history. To the extent it’s popular, it has a pretty loyal fanbase of online dweebs that eat up the hundreds of new releases for GTA Online every year.
Everyone else on Earth is pissed there’s no GTA 6 & is beyond tired of Rockstar’s constant polishing of the same overrated 10 y/o turd.

3, VC, and SA are GOAT tier games (though I will admit nostalgia may play a part in this evaluation).
4 was decent, definitely worth a playthrough or two.
5 is where I genuinely think R* lost their way. They "tried" lots of things, overcomplicated their already-established solid formula, and of course over time absolutely destroyed the enjoyment of Online via all of the pay-to-______ content and by just turning it into some ludicrous 13 year old's wet dream. I'd go so far as to say Online was actually slightly more enjoyable than the campaign at the start - before R* went full bonkers on it.
And I think the reason people are hyped on 6 is because soooo many of us in the 26-40 year old age range want it to be like the old days. After all of this time... after all of the waiting... after putting up with R*'s chit with 5/Online for a decade... maybe just maybe 6 will deliver what we really want and miss from the old days. I personally hope it comes through, but when it eventually is released I will be waiting to see if it is even remotely similar in quality to 5/Online... and if it is I will simply pass on it.MISC Haxball Crew

Dude stfu, GTAV was great for a game that released 10 years ago. It has a great engine and physics for an open world game that was made 10 years ago.
You must be fukin retarded, just the fact that you just played a game that released 10 years ago speaks for how great the game is. Go around and look at other open world games in the same genre and you will see how miles ahead GTAV is, then Rock star went ahead and dropped RDR2 that also is top notch in physics, graphics, gameplay and story. Of course everyone is quite hyped for GTA 6 after 10 years in the making.Yo yo yo I beez keepin it real since 02 fo real nowuimsayin

The last actually fun GTA game I played was GTA: San Andreas. GTA IV was too gloomy for my tastes and only got halfway through before calling it quits. I beat GTA V, but it just didn't have the same satirical feel as the earlier games. Even tried the online version and it was alright. I think Saints Row: The Third is more fun to play than GTA V and that's kind of sad.

The definition of a low IQ retard, no surprise you love the game. 10 years ago is not ancient history. Older RPG's had a LOT more believable/detailed/rich worlds filled with notable named NPCs and a LOT less linear quests with choice and consequence. Older third person shooters had a lot better controls as well. Games had evolved way way past of what GTA V delivered. It's a braindead experience for ****gits like yourself.
If you're going to tell me that GTA is "not that kind of game" then its an outdated and chitty kind that should have evolved long ago.
Do you even IQ?
My question: Why is GTA V so popular?
Your answer: Because it's very popular.

4 and San Andreas are goated
GTA v was pretty good, I liked the campaign and some parts of the story more than others. The mp was alot of fun on pc when it came out. I played about 250 hours before I moved on, and alot of my mp was actually played with miscers and we had perfected all the heists basically. Played through single player with some fun mods too.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

III, Vice City, and San Andreas are legendary.
IV I never got far into, seemed solid enough.
V was fun as fuk at the time but online sucked ass.
I think Red Dead 1, 2, and Undead Nightmare might be the true masterpieces from Rockstar, though. I'd say those 3, along with Vice City and San Andreas are the best work Rockstar have ever done.
Always heard good things about Bully but never played it.

Vice City was my intro to GTA. it was fukking unreal, so much fun, so addicting, so much 80s music...
I didn't give any of the newer ones much of a chance, they just felt like crap, didn't have the same magicPRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1
