I am daily average Joe user and I want to optimise bang-for-buck. Impartial to brand/design nut-hugging because I can easily adapt to whatever.
I have had Galaxies before 2020 and in 2020 decided to try Xiaomi Note 8 Pro. Have had it for 3 years now.
I am not comparing flagships as getting a flagship is a bit of a waste of money.
Smartphone choice is basically Chinese Androids, established Androids (Samsung, Google) and IPhone.
My experience with Xiaomi was ok for the cheap price, but the battery started degrading hard af after 2nd year mark. I actually think an iPhone can be only 10% more expensive considering how much longer it lasts, assuming you do not get the newest.
Only Huawei was a strong contender for mid-range quality builds, even against IPhone but it is rendered unusable by the Google Services ban.
-----
One thing I was looking for was smaller screens - my Xiaomi was 6'5 inches and it I didn't realise I would be such a problem - can't bend my knee properly to tie my laces when it is in the pocket.
Never want a phone that is above 6-6'1 again.
It was interesting to compare Samsung's/Google's (especially Pixel 6a) mid-range choices with Apple's (13 mini and SE 22).
Decided to go with SE as the resell value retain makes it almost just slightly more expensive than the Pixel - so worth trying it.
-----
So far:
- Smoother flows than Chinese or Samsung's - not a huge difference but you can tell. There is definitely a "this feels more premium" feel.
- The only thing I miss is the cracked customised versions of YouTube where you dont pay for premium but have the features. However, Google has started cracking down on those which was expected.
- I am a software dev by trade, who knows how to code Android apps and I don't share the "true tech guys will tell you Android is so much better" sentiment.
Better in speed depends on the execution of the maker - Google's stock android can be good but app development is fragmented due to the many versions/builds/manufacturers.
Also, Android is most devices globally, but in the West it is more 50/50. However, Westerners are richer so more likely to spend on apps. So focusing on optimising IOS development for your app idea makes sense.
If Apple brings down the prices of Minis and establishes a clear line of SEs and Minis as mid-range/budget options I think I might be converted.

That's one of the two reasons I can't switch even though FOMO of owning an iPhone kicks in every time I get a new Samsung. I just want to download apps and not subscribe to 15 different platforms with my CC.
Second reason is icloud. Probably can be turned off but all this syncing and buying extra cloud data, having to log in and all my stuff being connected to my acc etc. grinds my gears. Also tiny back button and touch screen feel is a bit weird.

brb woke up feeling like **** again brb uncertainty, not trolling at all; I have lost all hope for katya as she cant think critically, which I admittedly failed on as well; can't really get over you and Tuga though
as for the iPhone thing - the SE really comes out almost as cheap as a Chinese one if you adjust for the re-sell value and how long it lasts
a Pixel can be better but it is a close call still
iPhone becomes totally not worth if to talk about iPhone 13 or 14 and their Pro versionscommunist until you get rich

newpipe is good but no account sync support
I dont think any other app is cucked on Apple apart from youtube premium
iCloud is a nice addition to google drive
I still use chrome on the iOS as I can sync links from my PCcommunist until you get rich

I rarely see that one IRL, but I think it's the best iphone, probably going to get it after my 8 plus stops getting updates (which is still working great).
BRB only 400 bucks, 1/3rd cost of latest model but just as fast
BRB updates for the next four years at least
BRB small so it doesn't take up your pocket and can one-hand it
BRB small screen so you aren't inclined to stare at it for 8 hours a day and become a zombie zoomer
BRB photos basically the same
But most people don't want to look poor so they spend triple for basically the same device. Sad.Pureblood Crew
