This is a good answer, but wrestling does has a decent hole in how it does not teach how to fight from your back. Being on your back with someone wanting to inflict damage on you is about the most dangerous position you can be in……… except for being on your stomach……… which wrestling teaches. One should absolutely train techniques to mitigate damage / escape / reverse when on your back, and NEVER be face down.
Finding a good no-gi bjj / submission grappling gym in your area that isn’t just some leg lock / guard pulling / but scooting factory will give you a well rounded ground game that has a lot of carryover.
Another great benefit of grappling in general is how you are able to replicate high intensity force on force training with live opponents repeatedly. Live sparring in striking only martial arts has a harder time of this.
