I’m talking about late/end stages of the Third Reich when they were already getting their chit pushed in, specifically. That’s when Hitler made his best-ditch effort to attempt an invasion of Russia using his elite SS troop. But by that time they had already lost several battles and they weren’t dressed for harsh Russian winters so they got WRECKED by Russian forces.

After a lot of success assaulting Stalingrad and almost totally capturing the city. The battle came to a stalemate. At this point (Nov, 1942) the Soviets launched a counter offensive that encircled the German Sixth Army. The sixth Army surrendered by Feb, 1943. The sixth army suffered significantly due to winter conditions during this battle.

Up until the battle of Stalingrad the German forces were unstoppable. Following the battle of Stalingrad, the battle of Kursk (July, 1943), the largest tank battle in history, put the death knell in the Nazi forces on the Eastern front.

During this time the western front was mostly inactive. The UK and American main campaign in Western Europe started in June, 1944 with the battle of Normandy.

The only fighting during this time period invovled the US and UK was the North African Campaign.
