I lowkey miss days when I could sit 12+ hours a day completely enthralled by a video game. Eventually you reach a point in life where you become aware of so many things that your brain is no longer satisfied just rotting all day. I spend far more time reading articles and learning random information than I do playing video games. There are days when I'm not in the mood for anything so I turn a game on and maybe binge for a week or two and then move on to something else.
I was trying to understand why I prefer games from 20 years ago even though the graphics are worse. Then I realized that it's not so much just the game itself, but its potential and what it represents as a whole. Take Shenmue for example, it was one of the first games of its time where you felt so immersed with all the simulation elements. The game world isn't big, but it makes you think otherwise as it's the things that are unseen that make you think of endless possibilities. I have more of a supervisor/overseer mentality and enjoy watching things grow and expand (no homo). Observing the infrastructure of a city or a town and how it changes over time fascinates me. Same with video games and how they are developed.

Thats an AVERAGE of over 11 hours EVERY single day of the year. What was this friend even doing with that year of their lives?
For me any more than 4 hours per day gaming is excessive."Honor is something that all men are born with. It cannot be taken from you nor can it be granted. It must only not be lost."

Yeah that's what gets me as well. I mean I could see if he was one of those people who obsessively plays a sports game because they're deep into the online multiplayer and trying to be a pro player or streamer, but this fool was literally just playing AI repetitively.
It's like I can play AI with these games here and there, or maybe focus on a season with my favorite team or something, but I couldn't imagine playing one of these games that much simply doing that.

Lol, I remember playing Super Smash Bros. Melee in my teens. Used to practice against three level 9 NPCs for days until I could beat them with little effort. Then my friends came over and they were far less predictable even though they didn't practice beforehand. I mainly beat them because I had better accuracy and got good at near perfect timing Luigi's Green Missile attack. So solo practice does help somewhat against beginners, but against trained players it doesn't do chit.

Just stfu and let him live the life he wants?
Forever single crew after I realised years ago b*tches ain't sh*t.
One of my friend's partners said she needs to set me up with someone so I can be happy.
I bert stared the hell out of her and was just in my head laughing because yeah I'd love to always be at each other's throats because you have zero sleep and you're constantly listening to kids screaming and yelling.
They must be so happy that my mate often sleeps in the man cave out the back to get away from her.
You sound as much of a nagging b*tch as she is.
Just because someone is enjoying life their way doesn't mean they need to be fixed bro.
Inb4 guy makes major bank being a good gamer just lol.

Clearly shook to his core. LoL, died when I saw this thread. Max level rustled.
The funniest thing is he is still dumb enough to believe this. Thank God Daddy owns a cell phone shack, or he'd be cleaning toilets at Burger King. But now he gets to live life with two TVs! I can't imagine the luxury.
Ah, maybe someone in this section besides myself, Bongo, and Scram does have a brain. You should port more often.
Still my most hours in a game, a Sony exclusive. Yet Coal says I don't play Sony exclusives. LoL ..... Imagine having to lie on the internet to people you don't even know to "win"

Ayyy lmao. When I was 20 my family visited my mom's cousins in Washington and they had a 9 year old daughter who played video games. I asked if I could play Street Fighter Alpha 3 and we played against each other. She absolutely demolished me at the game 3 to 0. I wasn't even going easy on her or anything. It fascinated me more than anything because I remembered playing the game at their previous house when she was just a baby.

So you believe I should try convincing my friend to ease up on the multiplayer games and try some single players? The problem is he's been bragging about his 4100 hours on game forums. He posted that screenshot of his stats thinking it would get him praise and promised to try to clock in even more hours. Everyone ended up bullying him even more, calling him a no life virgin loser etc. Also they realised he didn't play the exclusive games he was bragging about and it was pretty much over for him.
I honestly think he's depressed now. When we first met he begged me to add him on psn, I didn't at first and he sent me a ton of messages begging. I finally caved because I felt bad watching a grown man cry that much just to have an online friend.
Thanks brah, appreciate this opinion from a veteran of this sub. I'll try talking to him before his life gets any worse than it already is.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Playing a game that's 35 years old is totally boring to me.
I don't care if the graphics are 10k or beamed into my brain.
Everything I've said about games is true.
I'm not playing another Halo game even if it was in the Matrix and I could live it out like it was real life. I can't stand those little cartoon aliens and the same sh!t over and over.
In 2058 you will probably understand. If you want to ask me a question:

All the kids that I work with that are addicted to games, are addicted to online games.
They are about "grinding" for some reward and the reward is endless because the game is endless and has no point.
Online games are not games, they are a capitalist attempt to addict people to an endless activity with no real reward.
Game:
noun
1.
a form of play or sport, especially a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck.
2.
a complete episode or period of play, ending in a definite result.
If you look at the definition, online games are barely a competition, you can get shot and respawn instantly, there's no real rules other than shoot people, and very low skill is required, there is also no end to the games and so no satisfying.
That's "chasing a high" and why kids and people with no other important goals get addicted.
Transitioning to playing campaign based games is a good idea. That way he can enjoy playing, play in segments, and then use his mind to complete the game, then take a break.
Also, campaign games are an investment, meaning you must buy different games, whereas online games are typically free forever once you buy the game. So, he may not be inclined to finish a game immediately if he has to buy it.
However, his main problem is having a boring life and fear of life as I've said in my OP.If you want to ask me a question:

I'm willing to bet this guy got shut down a few times by some girls and he's just said f it, he'd rather just play games.
I can't really blame him, but I wouldn't rot that damn hard that's surreal.
Get him a hobby outside, get him into paintball or mountain biking or something along those lines. Hell maybe he's got a thing for fast cars and he doesn't realize it. Rent a porsche for a day and you and him go for a cruise all day long
I got rid of all my games about a month and a half ago, now I'm back on PUBG. I found myself spending so much time just watching youtube and misc'ing that I substituted gaming for those 2 other options.

To be fair, many times I have seen mgftp online in PS, he is on idle with the game running. So maybe that is why. But yeah, he still games a lot and a GIANT nerd cuz he got 73 platinum trophies… I only got 72.

To be fair I said when we first discovered this, that it was most likely idle game time lol. But it was still fun busting your chops and being obnoxious about it for a bit.
But this is thread just Coal Man being Coal Man. It's obvious you rustled him in another thread and caused this chain reaction of cringe.Yes... come and let us make an end of it. It matters not, even cornered, to my last breath... I remain who and what I am. I will not hide, nor tremble, nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is DOOM defiant.

I know majority wouldn't approve of such lifestyle...
but look at it like this, maybe your friend doesn't have anything better to do? Or he is easily bored if he doesn't play video games? So he plays video games all the time instead of being depressed and worrying about his low-achieving life....at least he is doing something instead of totally giving up on life.... it's alright for him as long as he is eating and sleeping right?
How old is your friend, btw?
