I lowkey miss days when I could sit 12+ hours a day completely enthralled by a video game. Eventually you reach a point in life where you become aware of so many things that your brain is no longer satisfied just rotting all day. I spend far more time reading articles and learning random information than I do playing video games. There are days when I'm not in the mood for anything so I turn a game on and maybe binge for a week or two and then move on to something else.

I was trying to understand why I prefer games from 20 years ago even though the graphics are worse. Then I realized that it's not so much just the game itself, but its potential and what it represents as a whole. Take Shenmue for example, it was one of the first games of its time where you felt so immersed with all the simulation elements. The game world isn't big, but it makes you think otherwise as it's the things that are unseen that make you think of endless possibilities. I have more of a supervisor/overseer mentality and enjoy watching things grow and expand (no homo). Observing the infrastructure of a city or a town and how it changes over time fascinates me. Same with video games and how they are developed.

Yeah that's what gets me as well. I mean I could see if he was one of those people who obsessively plays a sports game because they're deep into the online multiplayer and trying to be a pro player or streamer, but this fool was literally just playing AI repetitively.

It's like I can play AI with these games here and there, or maybe focus on a season with my favorite team or something, but I couldn't imagine playing one of these games that much simply doing that.

I played flight simulator around 1988 which is THIRTY FIVE YEARS AGO.

A lot of the other games posted look like cartoons, which I can't stand. Tom Clancy's Vegas characters had leather grain gloves in the graphics and I'm not playing some game that looks like a cartoon or worse CGI than from 1992.

Other games listed on top down games that SUCK compared to things like the Avatar series from the late 80s.

Then my friends came over and they were far less predictable even though they didn't practice beforehand. I mainly beat them because I had better accuracy and got good at near perfect timing Luigi's Green Missile attack. So solo practice does help somewhat against beginners, but against trained players it doesn't do chit.

I asked if I could play Street Fighter Alpha 3 and we played against each other. She absolutely demolished me at the game 3 to 0. I wasn't even going easy on her or anything. It fascinated me more than anything because I remembered playing the game at their previous house when she was just a baby.

I played 3 level 9 npc's when I was like 7-8, then halo and timesplitters ended up coming out. After that online console gaming became a thing. Once online became a thing there was very little reason to ever play a single player game ever again.

However, his main problem is having a boring life and fear of life as I've said in my OP.
