Looking for advice.
A buddy of mine is addicted to playing on his Playstation. He lives with his parents who enable him. He has no job, no real friends besides me and no social life. When he's not gaming or sleeping, he goes to forums to argue about "Playstation master race" and all it's amazing exclusives though he admitted to me he never played those exclusives.
How can i help him get a life? This is his gaming stats from last year

Damn he really ****ed you up in that other thread. This isn't a good look for a multi millionaire
Yes... come and let us make an end of it. It matters not, even cornered, to my last breath... I remain who and what I am. I will not hide, nor tremble, nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is DOOM defiant.

Damn that's an unhealthy amount of hours srs. My end of the year review was around 450 hours and I deadass rotted for a solid month doing nothing but racing on GT7 and 100%ing HFW and I thought I was overdoing it. I can't imagine clocking that many hours in a year.

I know guys who spend thousands of hours playing chess and working on strategies and that apparently is so much healthier lol
I was a gaming addict for several years doing nothing else. But looking back i seriously think off all the addictions gaming is the least hurting.
You still use your brain to solve problems instead of drinking alcohol and watching tv.Everything I post is trash.

I think you missed my point. Im saying any addiction that isnt killing you are all the same. No better no worse. I would say someone like asmongold who all he does is play video games for a living and makes millions is still wasting his life. But at least hes making a lot of money doing it. But even then its still a waste because hes going to die one day and money wont mean a thing then. It was all in vein. Its not like hes helping other people or changing society.
Some fanbois will say chit to him 'like oh asmon you helped me get through x and x period of my life' which is BS. He didnt 'help' them, he distracted them from whatever it was. Not the same thing as help.
In the end it doesn't matter. As long as you were a good person, believe in God, and helped some people along the way who cares if someone 'wastes their life' playing video games, watching tv, etc.

If you were to live the 'perfect' example American dream life, it still wouldn't matter. It would amount to nothing in the end. You will be forgotten in a generation or two at best. Genetic material is not immortality or legacy. If you managed to create a small business it will die with you. If somehow you created a large corp it will turn evil like all others. And you left the world in a worse way than you found it.
You would have to be someone like Einstein or Elon Musk for it to matter even a little what you do with your time.

That's an insane amount of hours. But it's his life. He can waste it however he wants.
I love following up on video game and tech news, but realistically I barely play videogames for more than 12 hours.... a month.
If I didn't have a life and got everything paid for me, I probably would do nothing but play videogames all day too lol--------------------- ϞϞ( ๑⚈ ․̫ ⚈๑). ---------------------

I recently worked with a teen who was living like this.
He lives with his mom and just flatly refused to go to school any longer. Instead, he just played games and his mother wasn't strong enough to take the games away, so he does not go to school.
The kid and I talked about how games make you feel like something is happening, when it's really nothing, a simulation. Meanwhile, the kid was not learning things in school, he was not meeting girls, he was not meeting guys, he wasn't not doing or learning anything.
Meanwhile, his call of duty stats and achievements were probably great. However, he would never ever get to do anything like call of duty in real life if he never goes to school.
This kid and your friend have a cowardly issue of wanting to have simulated adventures instead of real ones.
With the kid, I figured out that if he couldn't have perfect grades, he did not want to go to school at all. So, games gave him a sense of fake achievement because he didn't think he could achieve in real life, although he was not a terrible student.
So, your friend is avoiding real life likely because he doesn't think he can do much that is fulfilling so he is hiding in his games. If you want to ask me a question:
