There is no doubt that terry cloth towels are considered luxury towel sets. People always praise these towels for many reasons. While "terry cloth" and "towel" are interchangeable, terry is one particular weave. Traditional terry cloth is constructed using cotton. However, it can also be made using other synthetic fibers like linen, silk polyester, silk, and combinations. (Interestingly, Silk was the first ingredient used to create the first Terry cloth.) Today, high-end terry is usually made of cotton because its absorbent fiber expands when wet, unlike other fabrics that weaken when wet. Cotton has a 20-30-fold water absorption capacity. The loop pile is a sponge and can withstand tension, twisting, rubbing, and rotating.

The cotton terry fabric is an excellent alternative for bath mats, bathrobes, and beach and pool towels due to its exceptional absorption. Terry towels are simple to color, print, and embroider with a decorative design.

Uncut loops that increase from the fabric's woven base create a unique feature that differentiates Terry cloth from other textiles. The loops expand its surface, making it fluffier and absorbent. But, not all kinds of terry are created equal. Aside from the quality differences, there are plenty of other popular varieties of terry.
