Which is the one that everyone was raving about a few months back due to them hitting Game Pass? Started Persona 4 Golden and it's pretty cool, even though it's anime ish the story and characters caught me. Although I may continue it, I have not patience for games as I used to do back then and want to know if this is the one that's worth playing, or is it Persona 5?
Which is y'alls favorite?

My first persona game was Persona 5 and it was an amazing time. In my top three of last gen's game of the generation.
I havnt played Persona 4 because I heard 5 has so many QOL improvements that I'm a bit scared that I'll go into P4 and wont enjoy it lol. If you've already started P4, probably stick with it because P5 will probably blow your mind. Apparently the story in P4 is better as well.
Like others said, they're also huge time sinks ... P5 took me about 130 hours to complete.Sig line can't be a novel

5 was the one the hype was over. Historically, the main games were only available on playstation, with spin offs available on other consoles.
5 Royal was my first. Loved it and went back to play 4G when it released on PC. Eventually wanna play 3 FES. The version that came out with 4 recently is 3 portable, which is the vita version that allows a female protag and controlling your party member, but it doesn't have cutscenes, which is a no for me.
Agreed on better characters, but I like the story, and of course gameplay more in 5. The confidant system was excellent. And nothing beats the big twist in 5 for me.
Huge time sinks, but 4 less so. I was about 120 hours when the credits rolled for 5: Royal for me.Last edited by Muzzlrpress; 03-23-2023 at 02:30 PM.

It's half dungeon crawler, half life sim. The life sim aspects are about going to school and doing Japanese teenager stuff, and building relationships with people, which gives you powers and abilities in the dungeon crawling. The combat is turn based with some little things that make it faster than other turn based JRPG's, and you use personas for your magic attacks. Personas are like pokemon, but you have to use coercion to get them to join you. every character has one persona, but the MC is special and can have as many as he wants. You can do things to personas like combine them to get new ones with new abilities and attacks. Here's an example:
You can only recruit a persona of your level, but if you reach max level with the sun arcana (people who give you bonuses are all assigned to a tarot card), you'll be able to recruit personas that are higher level that you. The Star arcana's confidant levels let you swap out party members during combat. Stuff like that.
The biggest downside is it starts slow. Essentially a 4-5 hour long tutorial, but an entertaining one. That time is a drop in the bucket compared to the actual playtime you'll rack up by the time the credits roll. Definitely a game you'll feel you got your money's worth with.***The Misadventires of Gandalf the Black***

I didn't know the Persona series was this big, made peoples top list of games even though it's 100+ hours. So this is all story right? I won't be thrown into the world with no story like Phantom Pain ? Played some P4G today but I decided to start P5R and just got to the train derailment scene. These games feels like you can get immersed for sure, and if it has a story and cutscenes throughout I may stick with it all the way (srs)

Persona 3 was the first I played, 4 is easily my favorite since it just got me, 5 was good.
I think as a series I prefer Danganronpa for the lulz.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Nah, there's always a schedule for set events like rainy days, school exams, story events and so on and there is a fixed timeframe when dungeons are available, with a hard deadline that if you miss it's game over. But don't worry about it, with a bit of knowledge you can finish dungeons on the day they open and then you've got tons of free time to level up skills/social links and to do activities/side missions.

About to wrap up Persona 5 Royal probably this weekend. Beat Persona 4 like a year ago
Both are good. Persona 5 is better. Better characters (although Teddy>>>>Morgana the simp). Better story. And most importantly better dungeons. P4 dungeons are sooooooo boring because they are just randomly generated. so its just the same rooms over and over.
The problem with the Persona games is that because its the daily design you feel restricted in the things you can do.

How could I be such a retard and forget one of the best things? It's the music bro. You will straight up vibe to this chit. P5R has one of the best gaming soundtracks.
If you have royal, your intro is Colors Flying High. I like it, but the original intro gets repeat plays from me.

P4G was pretty good. I kinda got annoyed at the beginning bc you're literally not even playing the game for the first 3 hours as it is basically a bunch of cutscenes.
The story was okay. I'm not really a big fan of high school simulator games in general. But the combat system, the persona system is top notch. The soundtrack isn't bad either. It's not my first choice of JRPG tbh but it's still worth a play.
It's a huge time sink as well, I think I played over 100 hours. But I wanted to get the true ending so I replayed parts of it.positivity brah crew
