Cinqo de Mayo is not a Mexican holiday. It's just a day in military history of Mexico. Nobody gets the day off, nobody exchanges presents, there's no firework, nothing.
Here in the USA, all the restaurants and bars tout it as a day to go out for dinner and drinks (and spend money at their establishments). Spanish people that come to the US wonder why some Mexican day in history is celebrated more in the US than it is in Mexico. It would be like Mexico celebrating the day George Washington crossed the Delaware River.
