How long after waking up is it "safe" to lift ?

Im planning on starting up early AM workouts, waking up early and hopefully within 45mins-1hr of waking up im in the gym.

I remember reading something about the spine and fluids, something about when you wake up youre spine is at a much weaker state for x amount of time.

    Is this true ?

Just drink a bottle of water before training to stay hydrated and maybe a sprinkle of salt if you need if you train fasted. If you eat before the gym, drink water and something relatively light.

Don't worry about that silly study. If it were true, everyone in the military would essentially be dead from spinal issues.

I'm guilty of that sh*t too, waiting for somebody to powder my nuts cuz I did 20 reps of whatever the **** on the bench. Big f*king deal. It is all relative." G Diesel

If you roll right out of bed and try to deadlift your 1RM, I imagine you would have some issues.

Outside of that, you're fine. Most days I wake up, drink water and a cup of coffee, cleanse my colon, and warm up to start my workout 20-30 minutes after waking up.

The vast majority of heart attacks occur in the early AM hours. Good luck!

I get up at 4:00 or 4:30 5-6 days a week, drink a big glass of water, and start working out within 30 min. Breakfast immediately follows. It's worked fine for around 15 years. No spinal injuries. I have had seven heart attacks. Probably unrelated.

Dr. Stuart McGill has recommended you be upright for at least 2 hours before heavy lifting.

The reason you wake up taller is the disks in your spine are full of fluid. This same fluid makes them more likely to herniate.

Dr stuart mcshill is also selling books and rehab programs that are full of fear mongering nocebo.

And certainly not in line with actual current medical recommendations.

Ps. The mcgill big 3 is bs

Id certainly like to feel awake before lifting after waking up tho.
