I am a member at Planet Fitness and I sweat like a pig when working out..
Today I was working out at Planet Fitness and I was not wiping down the machines so they called the cops on me and had me leave...What a joke...
Do people actually wipe down the weight machines after each use?

I guess a towel would be good...
I was working out and a woman came up to me and told me I was dripping sweat and said to wipe down the machines....
I told her that she should wipe down the machine....She got mad and told a worker and the worker called the police...
Why on earth are people soo sensitive these days?

Not saying I disagree because I would have personally never said anything to you in the first place, and if I did I would have just let things be after talking to you.
But it goes both ways... She was probably thinking exactly the same thing about you when you told her to wipe down the machine you had just sweated all over.
This is one of the reasons I greatly prefer working out at home. The Flywheel Effect - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=172103043

Agree, one of the many reasons why a home gym is the way to go. If you want to be gross at your own house nobody will call the cops on you. But yes, if you are at the gym training it's common courtesy (sometimes policy) to wipe your butt sweat off the equipment when you are done. We just experienced a global pandemic, people are probably more sensitive to these situations than in the past.

I would, but, I would've phrased it like "Excuse me, but, you forgot to wipe down when you were done."
As would I, but, we're talking Planet Fitness here. The home of the Lunk Alarm
I lasted all of one month at one of those and I was outta there.
Sure is. Every gym at which I've ever been a member expected people to wipe down when they were done on a machine or bench. It's the same courtesy as racking your weights when done.

Sorry to go off on a tangent here. Were you engaging in bad etiquette? Most people would probably say yes. Was this woman's reaction over the top? I think most people would also say yes. But dealing with mental illness at a commercial gym is kinda par for the course. IMO, the pandemic affirmed a lot of mental illness.
What made me go all in on the home gym thing was. I was leaving my local gym with my wife, and I playfully slapped her ass. This purple haired heavy woman immediately came up to me, and started lecturing me on misogyny and rape culture, in outright anger. I looked over to the front desk, and every employee simultaneously looked away, and tried to ignore the situation.

If you're drenching the benches/machines in sweat, then you should absolutely be wiping them down. Calling the police was absolutely ridiculous, but I can't say it surprises me either. The world we live in now is full of spineless, quivering cowards that are terrified of the slightest confrontation. In their eyes, there is only conflict avoidance and a shootout - no in between.

It's important to wipe down machines after each use, especially in a shared gym setting to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. Most gyms have cleaning supplies available for members to use. In fact, many gyms have become even more vigilant about cleanliness since the COVID-19 pandemic began. It's understandable that Planet Fitness would enforce this rule, but it's unfortunate that they had to involve the police. It's always better to err on the side of caution and keep things clean to maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
