I realise there are far worse options than joining the military (dead end job, prison etc). But I have to argue that following your true passion in life >> joining military
If someone's true passion is following orders then I also get that

I've been having the time of my life in the military so far. More life experiences than almost all of the non-military people I come across.

my take from being in the military is that its not really about taking care of the people as much as it is budgetmaxxing on material equipment. Glad I did it when I was young and dumb and met some lifelong friends but no way in hell I would ever recommend anyone joining today. Its not about defending america, its about advancing the agenda of corrupt politicians.

lets see,
- going on adventures in different parts of the world.
- going on adventures in various parts of the USA
- meeting all manner of people ranging from the most hardcore inspiring people I've met, to people who joined the military as a last resort.
- working in a unique environment that allows me to gain, and then use my experiences to teach and mentor the youth of America who decided to join the INFANTRY.
- Have seen how the military experience, especially in the infantry, can transform boys who otherwise would be soft spoken, uncharismatic, no confidence having, and weak into strong men who are capable and sure of themselves.
It's awesome looking at the progression of a shy and uneasy private to a confident specialist in two years.
I remember my first year or two in the military. (Ded fkn Srs)#11bangbang

I joined and retired from the USCG
I flew on HC130H's, it was cool
I opened up the ramp and door in flight and looked at stuff regularly. Imagine flying around on a plane with nothing between you and the outside. I don't have to imagine.
I did three flights of returning rescued dolphins to be released in Midway (it's an island...or atoll?) where there was a conservatory.
I did 2-4 flights of returning rescued seals to Midway.
I did a lot of SAR, some of it resulted in actual rescue or at least closing that they perished and are not still out there holding onto life.
Before I went aircrew I was on a boat. We sailed that boat from the east coast through the Panama Canal to Kodiak Alaska, it was cool as fukc!! I get sea sick, still cool. Glade I got to do that.
I took up Navy SEAL's and other special forces people including non-USA ones because USCG has very little red-tape on how we do things and easier to deal with....to jump out of our plane.
I was doing anti-narcotics patrol when the cartel was still using actual "go-fast" speed boats with 3-4+ motors and were obviously sus and I can easily find them with our camera system aided by radar. To them using more pedestrian style possibly fishing boat that I had to really look at to say.....that one. To them using semi-submersible subs that I can find because....heat and IR camera. It was a good time. Spent my per diem on beer and bar food, sleep, wake up, pre-flight, search, land, post flight, repeat.
I enjoyed, no regarts there
edit: I also loaded a dead "rare beak nose whale" that beached itself on a beach in Molokai and transported it back to Oahu so they could try to figure out why it beached itself.
Also transported over 12k lbs of cocain....serious. With DEA and FBI onboard☆☆☆USA яєω☆☆☆

My grandad loved it, he was (british) stationed in Germany I cannot remember when but I believe it was late 50s early 60s, he was in light armored vehicles and he said it was the best time of his life, got to go skiing in the alps and drive cool vehicles, he also said it was weird getting used to not stopping for people, if they were in the way you moved them out the way lol, his only three regrets were deafness in one ear when a tank shot next to him on an exercise, getting caught taking a chit in the woods on exercise by a family who's land he'd stumbled upon, and one of their vehicles flipped and his friend got torn in half. But they were all accidents and that comes with the territory. Used to see all his cool pictures and hear all his stories and thought I wanted it but they rejected me for being a sperg lmao, such is life.

I was in the infantry and IDK if I'd choose to do it again, but it definitely benefited me. Being in actual combat can be a pretty surreal life changing experience for better or worse. Lots of good life lessons overall. Lifelong friends/connections. Perhaps the biggest thing though, is that it paid for my police academy and two masters degrees, while also paying my living expenses monthly, and I get a decent disability check every month. All in all I've gotten around $300,000 in benefits/cash from the military after I've gotten out, for doing 3 years.

So much truth.
Also tired of hearing "muh disability percentage". I don't mind legit disabled but if you're working full time tradie and getting military disability for a shoulder injury 6 years ago, get out of here. If you are disabled, your work income needs to be impacted, disability is for loss of income.Life is easy when you take personal responsibility

Yes because some soft Airforce loser knows what the experiences and intelligence levels of an Army Infantry unit are... right. You don't know what you're talking about buttercup. Some of us couldn't stand to be around a bunch of soft cry baby twinks, so we joined the infantry and not the Airforce.
Did you serve in this Airforce unit?
In April 2021, the Air Force developed the Barrier Analysis Working Group, which includes a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning Initiative Team. In May 2022 a group of Malmstrom Airmen came together to form a base-level LIT.#11bangbang

Butt-hurt much, little guy?
I worked directly with an 11b unit while deployed to a FOB in Herat. Actually got an AAM from it. I'm soft, yet I'll out PT every single person in your unit. I bet I'm more competent with a rifle as well. So keep running that c*ck holster little guy. 11b is your peak in life, so enjoy it. I got out and got my engineering degree for free.
Stay mad.
Also, are you unaware of Air Force grunts? TACP and CCT? Absolutely MOG your average room temp Army infantrymen lmaoooo

It seems like alot of politicians are not qualified for the job. Imagine have a military at your hands. Imagine the IQ and knowledge you need to use the military in a beneficial way. All of that potential by the US has been flushed down the drain over several decades, not to mention the lost of credibility, image, and political standings.
