Hollywood only makes a dozen or so big budget movies a year. Trust me I'd rather go see a gladiator, top gun, saving private ryan, or interstellar type movie but all Hollywood wants to make are dumb kid friendly live action cartoons.

Yes I like big budget block busters with lots of action and good soundtracks. Story is generally secondary. They look and sound great on my home theater. I'd much rather watch one with good characters and interesting plots, but I'm still going to watch the mindless marvel drivel too. It's what 3-4 movies a year?

I had high hopes for the DCU when James Gunn took over. DCU can be for the more adult-oriented super hero movies, and the MCU can be for the kids. But it looks like Gunn is just gonna try and make another MCU only with DC characters.

They fukked up but there's no going back. They should have just taken a year or two off and rebooted everything, recasted Iron Man and Capt America. Started fresh with X-men and Fantastic 4 as a focus, with Dr. Doom as the main bad guy (Sorry you can't have someone who looks like a human follow-up Thanos).

No one was ever going to watch movies based around a bunch of C-list heroes. The only reason that worked occasionally in the first go around is because they were either carried by the A-list heroes or the movies were extremely well written (eg GotG 1).

These movies are all dead. Literally have the next 2-3 years already planned out and it is all ****.

Yeah I get what you're saying. I have a sweet ass atmos surround system and I like seeing the big blockbuster action movies. They are few and far between now days, I Watch the marvel stuff because it still is a great audio and visual experience. Unfortunately the quality of their movies seems to lessen with each one that comes out. I don't go to theaters to see them anymore though.


At this point I'm only interested in marvels villains, and I'm waiting for silver surfer.

You are correct but some of this stuff is frustrating.

I stopped buying comics in the early 90s and many films were from that time period. So, it was really cool to see live stories that were accurate to the comics.

However, there were ones like Fantastic Four that were horrible. I know and love the story and characters. They had a Mexican playing a blonde woman, ignored that Dr Doom is magical Iron Man, and changed his story then Galatcus is coming, but he's a cloud...

Stuff like this is outrageous because of the amount of "good will" Marvel and DC generated with the comics. People get angry because they trusted these stories to be entertaining due the comics being consistently very good.

When I was kid I would wait each month and bug my parents to take me to the drug store to get the latest issue. Nowadays, I am not excited about anything as much as I was that. So, when the live action films came out...it recaptured some of those feelings.

But when epic characters turn out to be clouds or trannies, it's like being a kid whose comics like destroyed in front of their faces.

I said after End Game none of the remaining characters have enough power to keep the franchise rolling. Cap and Stark were instrumental in the success of the series. I personally don't think Ant-Man, as a character, was interesting enough to have 3 films (although 2 led into End Game).

IW and EG were the peak, no way anything matches that.

i think disney plus is a significant problem that is at least partly responsible for the drop of quality in their movies. the only way that disney is going to justify their monthly fee amid all of the competition is by churning out marvel content and producing quantity over quality. because of this the storyline has become convoluted and has no strong base, and the writing is inevitably going to be chit as a result.

yes they have lost great actors (chadwick, downey, hemsworth) but cumberbatch is fantastic as strange and olsen is great as scarlet witch, not to mention they had charles fukking xavier, yet multiverse of madness was absolute unadulterated grabage. same with love and thunder, which had hemsworth, crowe, and bale.

Yeah, hard to argue with what Marvel is doing when I get to see some of the best actors ever be in Marvel movies. Bale for example. I like Cumberbach too
