He's a damn good fighter, no doubt. But calling him the goat is a joke. He's only defended his title three times.
Look at Anderson Silva, he was untouchable until he wasn't, and this was well after his third title defense. It might have been one extra fight that exposed Khabib.
He even missed weight in his last fight. They tried to cover it up and let him fight anyway. But the dude has to kill himself just to make weight and still can't do it. No wonder he retired. The story about his mom telling him not to fight might be real, but he only listened to her because of what I just said. He's not gonna move up and fight dudes like Usman and Khamzat, no way.

Khabib is the most overrated fighter of all time

He beat everyone worth beating in his division and the division was pretty hot back then. There really wasnt anyone left to fight.
But I dont think he is the goat. He killed himself to make the weight and never tried himself against the guys he arguably should have been fighting. If that fight against gsp happened and he won, I’d give him goat.

He had a padded record, then beat a few top contenders. He undoubtedly proved himself as the best in the division but for how long? Not long at all.
3 title defense's, and for one of them he literally missed weight.
Even if he beat GSP he wouldn't be the goat, not even close. GSP was 40 years old at the time and he was begging for him to come down to lightweight, he wouldn't even settle on it being at 165.

GOAT? no. Resume and longevity isn't deserving of that title.
But overall, over ratted? For the most part not really. He only lost one round in his UFC run.Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

Khabib was an extremely good fighter. He could have become a serious name in the GOAT debate but he left far too early (and in his prime). The reality is, he only had 2 fights against legit top tier competition. I don't count Conor because it's a documented fact that he was injured and a borderline alcoholic/drug addict by then.
Just because Islam dispatched Olives doesn't mean that Khabib would have. You never know what will happen in a fight, and that's the issue. That's why he can't be considered for GOAT. Chandler might have been a serious problem for Khabib. It's all about styles. We'll just never know.
Khabib was so much more fun to watch than Islam as well. His striking was not as good technically but he was just a lunatic and ran people down.

Overrated because he's nowhere near GOAT status, yes.
Still a fantastic fighter but 1, he barely fought anyone noteworthy (compare his resume to other GOAT contenders and Khabib's is laughable tbh) and 2, he would cut weight to near death just so he could have a huge size advantage over his opponents.
Had he fought 1 weight class above and dominated there, he'd have a serious shout for GOAT.There is but one path....we kill them all.

Agree, lots of good points in this thread. Minimal title defenses, gifted the belt vs iaquinta, beat a washed up mcgregor, poirier only real win, gaethje is great but his style is custom made to lose to khabib. spent 85% of his career crushing cans. Was on deaths door to make 155, missed weight a few times iirc.
A great fighter no doubt, but overrated.

People call him the goat all the time, usually by saying Jones cheated and the other people lost a fight. So you just don't know what you're talking about.
Also funny how you bring that up when in that same thread I actually predicted how the fight would go, you on the other hand didn't make any prediction just joined to complain about something you were wrong about anyway. Leave bud

There is always the hyperbole and recency bias in regards to GOAT talk. Khabib has an arguable (but incorrect) case based off being undefeated, retiring on top, and dominance with only losing one round. He is not who I would pick, since longevity and title defenses while at their prime mean more to me.
I however dont see a ton of people saying he is the GOAT. I see much more folks saying how Jon Jones, GSP, DJ, Silva, and Fedor are ahead of Khabib. I feel he is accurately described as an All Time Great.
Certainly dont see enough people saying he is the GOAT to warrant in any fashion him falling into the overrated category. Especially when there are even more overrated fighters such as Conor, Nate, Tony, etc.

disagree
you never saw Khabib in trouble once. he DOMINATED every single person he fought. people felt accomplished if they felt like they won a round from the guy. he trained his whole life with a super strict father who is one of the greatest trainers of all time (look how many students he has in his small village that are successful). he even coached his best friend to his own lightweight championship belt in the UFC. his cousin is the Bellator champ.
i was pissed when he left too. his father/coach/mentor/inspiration had just tragically died. he lost all motivation. nobody ever steps away at their peak and even turns down $100m to box floyd... but he did. he promised his mother he wouldn't fight again after Gaethje. Can't hate the guy for being one of the few in the world who actually promises something and ACTUALLY DOES IT. but saying he is overrated is too much. he defended his title against top tier contenders too. he fukin beat gaethje with a broken foot. didn't say a word. still made weight. nobody has dominated the guy ever. not even in training. he spars with fukkin ppl way bigger than him too...
i must say that resume wise you have to give Jon Jones the GOAT title. RESUME wise. but he can't claim that he was never in ANY TROUBLE like Khabib can. Khabib has not even been cut or bruised in any of his fights... Jon squeaked by Reyes, Santos, Gustaffson and so forth...
DOMINANCE = KHABIB
RESUME = JONES (but can't claim he dominated every round like Khabib. and wasn't cut open. or bruised.)Misc Hunting and Fishing crew

"Look, Khabib is a rat, a coward. He knew I was coming for him, and that's why he ran away from the fight game. He knew he couldn't handle me, so he took the easy way out. I'm the king of this
sport, and Khabib will always be known as the guy who ran
away from the fight. He's a quitter, a chicken, and I'm glad he's gone. I would have destroyed him in the rematch, and he knew it. Now, he's off chasing goats in the mountains or whatever he's
doing. Good riddance, I say. The fight game is better off without him."

My thoughts exactly. Only thing I'll add is that Khabib's title defenses were exclusively against strikers who get mauled on the ground. Conor, Poirier, Gaethje, all known for their punches, which makes Khabib's record even less impressive.
Dude consistently missed weight and pulled out of fights. Tony had every right to be pissed when Khabib used the COVID excuse to pull out of the 5th one, when clearly he just couldn't sweat enough sh*t out of his system before he had to step on a scale.
And yeah, being terrified of moving up to the welterweight (where he naturally belongs) because he'll have to face a tougher guys like Usman and Covington who are not going to be punked around by his hug-my-opponent tactics.

the only reason GSP took that fight was because he knew Bisping was a weak champion. Can you imagine Bisping vs any of the top 5 middleweights lmao
the fact you said khabib would be the goat for beating an out of prime GSP proves you're retarded and need to stop deflecting onto others. I also noticed you were in the ufc 284 thread but didn't make a single prediction. Typical casual that will comment about how little someone knows with nothing but postfight commentary to show for it
'acktually gsp is 41 now'
