It seems like every social activity imaginable among millennials and zoomers has to involve alcohol. Once you've been away from booze for almost a year, your tolerance for the way people act when they drink goes way down, srs. Just wish I could find people who didn't insist on everything involving alcohol all the time.
A buddy of mine took me out on his boat for an evening once last summer. Fun time. I noticed he brought some beers with. I didn't care and didn't say anything. He wound up not cracking them open, I think out of guilt because he knew I was like 6 months sober at the time, and I think there was a small element of inferiority complex going on in terms of being able to resist the sauce. On the drive back he discussed the whole alcohol thing, brought up that he chose not to drink them since I didn't ask for one, and I was like yeah man go sober for awhile and you'll start realizng you don't need to drink beer at literally every damn activity/thing you do outside of work...

Find new hobbies
Sitting on a boat if you're not fishing is boring AF without alcohol. First time might be ok, but the second time on it's just literally sitting outside doing nothing. No thx Jeff. Brother got sober last year so my parents decided not to drink around him this summer when we went out on the boat. Was the most boring thing I've ever done.Positive crew. 6'2" Crew. Bloatmax Crew.

The problem with the boating buddy I have is he always wants to head out at like 4pm randomly on the fly when his wife decides to let him leave the house for a few hours. By the time we've got the boat on the water and are legit out on the lake for fishing, it's like fkn 6pm or some chit. Then imo he spends way too much time cruising around the lake wasting the ~$25 of gas money I just put into his boat, then we spend maybe half an hour camping at one of his "spots" where he does very little actual fishing himself. Next thing ya know, his wife is calling him bitching for him to head back home, and the rest of the evening sucks after that point.
Though honestly, what I just described is one of the annoyances of being friends with marriagecels. That's how they all are, srs.

You're choosing to inerpret it that way. Also, you have a habit of handling it exceptionally poorly anytime someone dares say something critical of something you like/are into. Just thought I'd point that out, consider it constructive criticism.
A woman who doesn't drink any alcohol whatsoever? Sounds like you've found a keeper, srs.

Randomly taking something I said about a personal friend I have IRL and using it widly out of context to prove wharever point you're trying to make here? Dude stop getting butthurt so easily, srs. You're literally validating my point about all the semi-alchies out there who get all bent out of shape about someone daring to criticize alchol...

Just realize that booze is easier to get than Zoloft and Prozac and you have some of your answer.
The other part is the social "calm down, shut your brain off, be silly" aspects of drinking. There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

Wow, strong nonsensical rebuttal.
I didn't take anything out of context. I literally quoted something you said about your own friend. If I'm misinterpreting it, are you able to clarify what you meant when you said
"and I think there was a small element of inferiority complex going on in terms of being able to resist the sauce"
Here it sounds like you're inferring that he may feel inferior because you decide to abstain from alcohol and he doesn't. Did I misinterpret that? If so, what did you mean by this?***The Misadventires of Gandalf the Black***

Yes, you took it wildly out of context. He has a semi-drinking issue he has admitted to himself to me in the past, so yes I assume that the reason he refrained from cracking his beers open was seeing me still succeeding and declining booze even though it was right there in my face on a boat, the easiest of circumstances to drink. Not to mention the fact that, as I said, he brought up the drinking thing on the ride back and said he's trying to cut back and chit. And he also told me he had been planning on having them (why else would you bring beer on a boat?) until I declined.
Stop thinking you know everything about everything. Also, stop getting so ridiculously bent out of shape over someone saying they no longer enjoy alcohol or being around alcohol. The whole fukkking western world is absolutely obsessed with alcohol (meaning you have endless validation for your interest in it), yet you dwell on a random misc thread of a guy saying he doesn't like alchol to get pissy about? Give me fkn break man.
Also, tell me you're a semi-alchy without telling me you're a semi-alchy...

Not just alcohol. Dopamine obsessed.
It drives the consumerism, disgusting cooperate greed, the ego, etc.
Alcohol is just a tool used to get the dopamine. Dopamine, as it is used today, is the problem.I only read thread titles and my own posts.

Doesn't seem like it's something new at all. It's also a big part of being young to go out and drink/party. Then again, it's not like I'm familiar with zoomers and their behaviours. I drank and partied a lot when I was younger. I don't anymore. I regret nothing and had a ton of fun.
