Diversity itself isn't really anything special. But what is special is expanding the pool of available workers to the entire world rather than just your country. Brain drain is America's strength. That type of diversity is good because you're able to recruit that many world changing people. America should generally insist on assimilation though to retain a national identity and prevent fragmentation. I'd say we do a pretty decent job at assimilating immigrants.

It has to be carefully managed though, ideally what you'd like is to import the cream of the crop, people with skills and ideas that you need, and do it at a managed pace so the new inhabitants assimilate.

Unfortunately though, diversity today just seems to mean "let's bring in lots and lots of unskilled low intellect immigrants because cheap labour is good for profits", a lot of them form ethnic ghettoes, and don't assimilate much if at all. This adds nothing except to corporate bottom lines.

Meritocracy is good, and if you allow for diversity that increases your pool from which to draw talent. In a sense the claim is correct, but of course liberals find a way to make it completely retarded. Diversity for the sake of diversity eliminates meritocracy. ALLOWING diversity is good, REQUIRING diversity is idiotic.

I kind of agree with you on this, actually. I think it is ok to have ethnic diversity, but it is important to retain identity and also to have a national and also a state identity. Assimilation is important to social cohesion. Every country that lasted the long haul managed to retain national identities and integrate them into larger federations. The US is also federation. I think it is vital for national cultures to be preserved. Minorities ought to be afforded their right to exist, but trying to blend everything together can destroy a national identity.

Demographic shifts can also be painful, but with proper assimilation, it wouldn't be an issue. That's why I find the fixation on race so toxic to America.

When commies take over the first thing they destroy is cultural norms. Tradition is a biprodict of culture and its the one thing that can reliably get the peasants to revolt. When culture and tradition are gone they can create a new commie culture. The soviets, mao's red guard, etc

In america race is just the front. Anything traditionally european is branded as racist. Even when it comes from a minority.
